  • Rutgers University established the Community Service Officer Program in July 2000 to provide support and assistance to the police. One-hundred trained and uniformed students patrol the streets along the Cook and Douglass campuses, as well as bicycle paths on College Avenue.
  • New Brunswick is nicknamed "the Health Care City" because Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, St. Peters University Hospital, and the Johnson & Johnson Global Headquarters are located in town.
  • Security officer escorts are available daily from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. Students who wish to be escorted to their residence hall, car, or off-campus home can call (732) 932-7211 for this free service.
