College Prowler Take
Sac State doesn’t have too many behavior problems, so campus rules aren’t that prevalent. If students saw police busting people every other day, then it would feel strict, but they don’t. In fact, it’s pretty easy to be lulled into a false sense of security because most students are never really reprimanded for anything. Perhaps teachers need to periodically remind students that this is a college and not a high school when it comes class conduct, but other than that, nothing.
The school tries to curb alcohol consumption. Staff members pass out flyers and other literature about alcohol use and its effects, and there are presentations in the same vein on the Library Quad periodically. Alcohol is the substance that gets the most lip service, but the alcohol presence at Sac State is below the national average, and if you don’t want to let it be a dominant, excessive part of your life, chances are you won’t have much trouble doing so. There are minor issues with parking and with some campus departments. Students complain about wrongfully-issued parking tickets more than they do about any other University Police-related incidents. Employees in the financial services office irritate students by getting attitudes when asked about financial issues, but most Sac State employees are cool if you take a non-confrontational approach from the beginning.

They are pretty strict, especially since drugs are one of the few things they can legitimately bust students for; the rest of the time they spend on petty codes and policies. |
