Some of the options aren't that great, especially for freshman, but I love my dorm in Benton Hall. I live in the Pride Community, so it is co-ed. The rooms are pretty nice and they are set up in a suite style.

Minus how strict the dorms were, living in a dorm room at St. Cloud was awesome. If you are going to be a freshman or transfer student, LIVE IN THE DORMS. They are expensive, about just as much as our tuition.. But it's alright. The best part about SCSU is that it is a gigantic school with a small campus. Everybody (Well, if you party) knows each other and you are stamped with what dorm you live in. "Yeah, I live in Mitchell" or "I live in Sherburne." There are seven dorms, six dorms are located on the main campus, and one is for international students. The international one is Lawrence, but it is its known as being its own separate dorm to the rest of the dorms. Mitchell has 4 floors, is secluded on the river next to everything (If you're lucky, your backyard view will be the river) and is 3/4 girls. There are only two wings of boys in the entire dorm. People pre-game here or Shoemaker. No matter what anybody tells you, it is the best dorm to live in. The rooms are large, and if you're a girl, the basement ones are larger, and the ones in basement A-Wing are the largest ones on campus. (Three-Four person rooms for only two people.) Next best dorm is Shoemaker, but you better like walking because it is far from main campus. It's a pain in the winter. (No, seriously.) This is known as the athlete dorm. There is East Shoe and West Shoe. Some floors are co-ed, and others with boys on one floor and girls on one floor. The next four dorms on main campus are Case-Hill, Stearns, Holes, and Sherburne. Case-Hill is a newly remodeled dorm, but has the smallest rooms on the entire planet. Case is all boys and Hill is all girls. It's a quiet place. Stearns and Holes look exactly the same, have about 7 or 8 floors, and have boy floors/girl floors. They have the typical looking college room. Sherburne is about 13 floors, tiny rooms, tiny areas, and the partiers. This place is popping all the time, but when you're in college, space is so nice. People in Cloud definitely said this a lot: "You are what dorm you live in."

The dorms are clustered around the cafeteria, as well as some other options that are provided on campus. I enjoyed living on campus, it was a great atmosphere and provided many opportunities to get involved in other activities all day and all night on campus.

Living on campus is a great experience, especially for freshmen. It's an easy way to get to know other people and make new friends. Plus, you're right on campus which gives you quick and easy access to any of the amenities and activities going on. Also, you don't have to get up as early to drive to the school and walk to classes.
