I prefer having my own computer on campus, so that I only have to go to a lab if I need to print. There are quite a few computer labs on campus, however I don't like to go out of my way to get to them. Printing costs 4 cents for a black and white page, 7 cents if it is two-sided. I'm not sure of the cost for color printing. You are given $8 of printing money on your student ID at the beginning of each semester. Whether or not you end up using all of it depends on your professors. The wifi on campus is usually pretty good, but occasionally it will go down for a couple of hours and your computer won't connect. I also know some people who have spots in their rooms where the wifi just doesn't work.

During the first week of classes, there was a heat wave. It was so bad that they opened the Residence Hall lobbies overnight so students could sleep in air conditioning as only two of the residence halls have air conditioning for dorms. There is also some concern of getting to classes in cold weather and snow. I haven't gotten to that point in the year yet, but I have friends who went here last year and would occasionally skip class if it was too cold out or if they were scared of slipping on the ice.

The university is in the process of renovating many of the buildings. As of right now the buildings are a mix of old and new. One of the great renovations they did last year was in the student union center. The LGBT Resource Center got a major upgrade, as did some of the other offices. It makes the offices more approachable and professional.

I'm still under 21, so I don't participate in much of the nightlife off campus. There is an ordinance in St. Cloud that only allows patrons under 18 to be in bars for special events, so that is all I have gone to. However, the events I have gone to like the Drag Shows at Biology 701 are really fun. I also know that my older friends seem happy with what the bars have to offer.

The metro bus in St. Cloud is a really great option. Rides are free with your student ID card. There is a bus that comes to the school, and the transit station is also in walking distance of campus. If you have any concerns about taking the metro bus, there is someone who explains how it works at registration day, and there are always route maps available in Atwood Memorial Center.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
