Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

St. Joe’s academic reputation has been on the rise as of late and with good cause. New school President Rev. Timothy Lannon, S.J. has encouraged serious growth in the school’s physical property and in the students’ education. Applications have increased exponentially, and the selection process has gotten a lot more particular in recent years. The University employs a rolling admissions system, so getting your application in as early as possible wouldn’t hurt. Another nice thing about St. Joe’s application process is that every accepted student is looked at for scholarships depending on their SAT scores and high school GPA. Not everyone on campus is on scholarship, but the large amount who do receive money are a testament to the increasingly difficult selection process.

St. Joe’s has built itself an outstanding name in the business world in recent years. The broad spectrum of majors offered and its fine reputation are mainly what attract students to the University. On campus, an overwhelming 98 percent of the faculty have a terminal degree. While there is a large number of part-time staff, they are just as committed to their students as the full-time staff. Adjunct (part-timers) professors are generally younger and extremely dedicated to their field of study. The overwhelming majority of students at St. Joe’s maintain that the professors really make this school a tight and thriving community.

Good Professors Are Worth It

I had some great professors (Tanzola rocks), and some taht were not so good but were billed as "easy." Don't take the "easy" suggestion, it isn't worth it. Go for the good/great professors.

SJU Fail

The academics in the psychology department are a mess, and the Biology department has over half of the bio majors depressed and switching majors. Expecations can be unreasonable and unclear.

Pharmaceutical Marketing and IHS - Double Major

Being a double major in both the business and arts and sciences schools is tough. I have a big workload but in the end it will be worth it. What I enjoy about being a double major is that I get a good balance of science and business classes, which I think is essential if I intend on working in Pharmaceuticals. Most of my professors are good but some do not know how to teach and that unfortunately affects GPA.
