College Prowler Take

St. Joe’s requires freshmen and sophomores to live on campus. The housing options at St. Joe’s are all over the place. Sourin is rumored to have been built as a temporary building to house students for five years, yet several decades later, it’s one of the main freshman dorms. Tara Hall was once a maternity ward, and students claim it’s haunted. Modern dorms like the townhouses would fit in at any large state college. Sourin is the best for meeting people because it’s closest to the student center and you have the most people in your suite. McShain is the newest (with no suites, just common areas), and LaFarge is a combination of the two. If you’re looking for a quieter place, try the halls.

Campus housing is changing because of the new buildings, and it’s sure to continue to change with the expansion of the Merion Campus. One of the keys to living on campus is making friends with your RA because they can inspire quickness in maintenance workers and security, among other things. There is still work to be done, but St. Joe’s has begun updating its housing, evidenced by the new buildings and improvements in older dorms such as Sourin that the University plans to continue.

The freshman housing is awesome I think it shows freshman the right amount of independence, while still forming disciplinary acts with the safety as you walk in. But, the housing is very, very costly.

Freshmen Dorms

B+

freshmen dorms aren't that bad, i'd recommend a suite over a traditional dorm because you meet people easier that way, its definitely easier to be in a freshmen dorm because you're way closer to everything

Most of the upperclassmen dorms are great, with lots of space. The freshman get a wide range of quality, depending on where they live.

Mcshain Is the Best Freshman Housing Option!!!

A-

McShain is the best for freshman; The rooms are spacious especially first floor which has high ceilings and seem to be wider than the rest. Sourin and Lafarge are great if you like the suite style of living it definitly helps with meeting new people. Depending on your RA your hall can be very socialable and fun but most people venture onto other halls to meet more people.

All of the freshmen who lived in...

All of the freshmen who lived in McShain were like their own little cult. Campus is really spreading out these days with the new buildings opening up spaces in other places that had traditionally been mostly upperclassmen like the townhouses and Ashwood. Ashwood has the most living space if you get a big apartment but the townhouses are the coolest because you get your own room and there aren’t RAs in your actual house—they have to knock to get in.
