The faculty at Saint Joseph's College of Maine care about the success of its' students and will try their best to make sure their students succeed and get help if needed. I've had a teacher who was very opinionated with her beliefs and thought it she was right and everything that went against what she believed in was wrong. She has good intentions, but her ways of teaching and her ability to make the classroom comfortable enough to learn is lacking. Most Professors are very friendly and getting to know them will definitely open up doors to your future.

The weather is constantly changing. It could be warm one day and snowing the next, which really throws you off sometimes if you're coming from out of state. When it does snow a lot, everyone seems to aviod venturing off campus because of the slippery roads, which aren't plowed that well. When the weather is pretty warm out, most students go down to the lake and enjoy soaking in the sun and going for a dip.

It is very unfortunate to say, but diversity in our student body is rare.

I am very satisfied with my education; however, Saint Joseph's College has limited courses within my business major. I can only afford this school.

Although courses offered are limited, the knowledge I've gain in just one year has been tremendous with the help of my very professional advisors

They serve lobster during our weeks at school! They have hot and cold buffets available with a wide selection of choices. Granted, it is food for the masses so it may not always be restaurant quality with individually prepared meals for each person but overall it is really enjoyable. It is important to have a campus meal plan because the surrounding community does not have a lot of places to eat.

As a nursing major it was pretty easy to get accepted to this program which is a big plus since this is a very competitive field. Unfortunately you are completely on your own in the graduate level for getting clinical placements which is very frustrating because you cannot finish the program until you complete three clinical rotations. The requirements for finding preceptors and the paperwork they have to fill out online is a bit of a headache too which makes it doubly challenging to get people to agree to help you. The classes are completely individual with readin gand writing- no video lectures, no interaction with professors except by email to answer specific questions you come up with about content and to let you know your payment was accepted. However, the books they use and the ability to complete the classes is a really nice feature when you want to keepw orking full time and attend graduate school.

Nearly all students get financial aid. The school is very gracious.

Beautiful summer, fall and spring months. Warm weather, and a short walk to the lake lead to a great experience. Winter, although it can be cold is great. Between the annual toboggan races, weekly shuttles to ski mountains, and class room views of a snow covered Mount Washington, winter doesn't seem to bad.

Very understanding and know you're here for experience. Not going to go out of their way to get you in trouble. As long as you are being safe, and it's not openly obvious you will get along fine with administration and RA's. Judicial process is very fair

I absoultly love being in the nursing program at St Joseph's College. Everything is hands on and classes are very small. I know every teacher and every teacher knows me. The workload is alot, but it all pays off. The curriculum is very well organized and the classrooms are outstanding! I just started clinical and enjoy it veyr much!

Restaurants in the area are very convenient for every student who has a vehicle. They are about 3 miles down the road form the school and include Applebees, Dunkin Donuts, Pizza Hut, Papa Johns, and a few self owned restaurants. I havent seen many student discounts, which is discouraging.

At Saint Joseph's Colle of Maine, there is a very nice gym and is close to everything. Walmart, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Applebees, Chinease food, etc is all in the area. On my days off I really enjoy going to Sebago Lake, located right behind the school, beautiful scenry.

The off-campus housing selection is limited and can be very expensive! Living on campus was extremly pricey for me, so I needed to find a place for this year. Everything in the area was too expensive for me to afford. I found a cheap place in Biddeford and I now commute to class. I know only a select few who live off campus.

Guys & Girls:
Many of the guys on campus are very athletic and friendly. Many of the girls are nursing majors and are outgoing.

Standish is a very small town, however the students always find things to do off- campus. Whether its traveling to Windham or the Maine Mall in South Portland to enjoy some shopping and casual dining, or going to the Old Port on a Friday night. The student activities office always has planned events to keep students busy and active.

SJC offers free tutoring for its students and even provides an academic center where students can recieve help with writing essays and managing their time. These opportunities helped me succeed tremendously during my first semester.

Health & Safety:
Safety had never been an issue for me on campus. I feel confident that this will ever be a concern for me. Security could be more helpful with basic issues like a car stuck in the snow.

Guys & Girls:
70% Girls, 30% Guys. Largest major is nursing, which expains the high population of girls.

Financial Aid seems to be pretty generous to most students. It is a very expensive college to attend, so Financial Aid tries to make reasonable for most people.

Not diverse at all. Small Catholic college in a small town in Maine. Some diversity, but not much at all.
