Saint Joseph's University Greek Life had a new discussion posted by eballs95

It's not hard to join at Frat- the process is easy and there is no hazing like you see in the movies. Several fraternities do not even do it.

To fully understand St. Joe's, you have to appreciate the people who run it. There's a uniform vibe amongst the faculty, staff, and students here that's unique to the school. A large number of students end up sticking around the area or moving to Philly for job offers after graduation. While it's true many grads pack up and head to D.C. or NYC for jobs, it's because of the time and effort they put in at St. Joe's that gets them there. Also, it's not uncommon for St. Joe's students to stick around the University with campus jobs in certain departments or as housing advisers.

Everyone at St. Joe's takes the school with a small sense of humor. There are some who love it and a small percentage who pretend they hate it, but most people agree this quirky school—in an even quirkier city—is endearing. The biggest complaint is the cost of attending; however, this is often offset by the large amount of scholarships given out. The running theme through the school is Hawk pride. A lot of students have the "grass is greener" syndrome when reflecting on their time here. However, ask a St. Joe's student if they would rather be down the road at UPenn or Villanova, and you might get a fat lip.
