Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

There are two places to eat on campus. The school's main cafeteria is located in the Student Community Center and offers a wide variety during the weekdays  but less of a selection on weekends. Breakfast usually consists of typical cafeteria breakfast foods, such as cereals, fruits, eggs, omelets, sausage, etc. Lunch and dinner have a wider variety on Monday through Friday. The classic hot entree station is always a toss-up. The majority of the time it is is quite good, but once in a while they will throw something in there like catfish. The Mongolian grill and stir-fry bar offer cooked-to-order meals and are always dependable. Since Saint Leo follows Catholic tradition, there are certain days throughout the year that they are not allowed to serve meat.

The Lion's Lair is the second dining location, which is located above the cafeteria and is a great option for on-the-go or sit-down meals. It's a popular spot, and even though the menu is somewhat pricey, campus residents have the option to get $100 bonus bucks included in their tuition that can be used here. The menu is long and consists of grilled and fried foods, salads, wraps, sandwiches, and desserts. Students can also come here to pick up snacks and microwavable items to take back to their dorms.

The cafeteria workers are quite strict on not allowing you to take food out of doors with you. They sell "reusable containers" for three dollars that you can take food out with. The two biggest complaints that students have with the cafeteria are the quality of some of the options and the variety.

Know Your People

The food at the school is good but after a while it gets a little old. If you are friendly to the people who work in the dining hall and make the food you will have fresh food every time you go there. The stir fry section always makes the food fresh and so does the salad bar and the sandwich station. The food is very good though, it is highly recommended.

It's Okay.

It's a buffet style and it's fresh food, but it isn't always the best. They have a pizza section, a chinese food section, fried/ fast food section, sandwich section, omlette section, salad bar, ice cream bar, and a stir fry. All in all it's fairly good, but one can get tired of the same food over and over again fairly quickly.

Tasteless

The dining hall at Saint Leo is very modern, clean, and efficient. We don't have any menus, the food is placed on kiosks and the students have to go around picking what they want from the diffrent departments. There isn't alot of variety of food, everything is repetition, repetion. The meal plan which is mandatory for freshmans is extremely expensive, and a burden on tuition payments.
