The local community surrounding the University has not exactly welcomed the student body with open arms. Nestled quaintly within the rolling hills of central Florida, the local community takes alot of pride in its simple, home-grown way of life. That's not to say that students from out of town are shunned when they head off campus, but they do stick out like sore thumbs when heading into the local taverns and restaurants. You might pop in to grab a drink and catch your favorite NFL team play on an autumn Sunday, and you may find nothing but rowdy NASCAR fans.
The 15-mile radius around Saint Leo is a quiet area. If you want action you'll need a ride of your own. The school refuses to provide any service to help this matter. After a short 20-minute drive you have a few more options. These include decent bars, restaurants, malls, and shopping centers. But the real attractions are a few more exits down I-75. Once you hit the city of Tampa there is plenty of fun to be had. Amusement parks, nightclubs, fine dining, and professional sports are just some of the many ways to spend your time.
There are a few small community colleges near SLU, but the University of South Florida and University of Tampa are within the Tampa city limits. This gives you the option to mingle with more college students should you decide to head down that way. On most nights Saint Leo students will head downtown to the hustle and bustle of Tampa nightlife to party, hook up, or exchange numbers with students from different schools, and then head on back to Saint Leo for a quiet night's rest.

This school makes it easy to both work and go to school. They offer a variety of class types: on campus, hybrid and online classes. I can choose the classes that are required for my degree or can ask for guidance at any time. Wonderful!
