Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The sunny Florida sky is the absolute best reason to come to Saint Leo. Most of the year, you will be walking to class in flip-flops, shorts, and sunglasses. Don't count on getting class cancelled for any snow days. Instead you actually have a small chance of missing class due to "hurricane days." Toward the end of summer and fall is hurricane season in Florida. During this period of time you will witness some of the biggest storms that you will ever experience in your life. But don't expect these storms to last long because hurricane season is tricky. During a cloudless sunny day, you can actually watch the storm roll in within a matter of minutes. It will pour rain, crack lightning, and bang thunder. Twenty minutes later, the sun will be back out, clouds will be gone, and the ground will be drying back up.

The winter may be slightly better than what you'd expect in Florida. There are some days when you will definitely need a warm jacket and pants, but your chances of seeing snow are very, very slim. The coldest time is late-January to mid-March, but it's a small price to pay for a year-round tan. Most students go home for the summer for good reason—the summer heat has tendency to be overly bearing to some northerners, and air conditioning is a must.

The weather at Saint Leo is usually great, very nice and sunny with plenty of shade. Some days it is some great that I relax on the dock by the lake.
