Ask SLU students what they love about the University, and the majority will include "the campus" somewhere in their answer. Known for its beautiful landscaping, water fountains and ponds, open green space, and statues, SLU's campus is often referred to as an oasis in the city. With constant renovations and developments throughout the past 15 years, alumni are quick to state their awe of the campus changes.
The Busch Student Center is the hub of student life, and it includes multiple eateries, two large spaces for speakers and events, student organization offices, study spaces for students, and a Senate chamber for the Student Government Association. It's also home to the Billiken Club, a small stage that features free concerts of mostly indie bands, a floral shop, and the SLU bookstore. The Chaifetz Arena was completed in 2008 and is a state-of-the-art, multipurpose facility for SLU sports, traveling concerts and shows, and a major clinical site for the athletic training program. The Simon Recreation Center completed renovations in 2008 and features a variety of workout equipment, pools, sport courts, and dance rooms. The Education Union opened in fall 2011 on SLU's Medical Campus, giving the health science, nursing, and medical students more study space and learning facilities. The upcoming renovations of Pius XII Memorial Library have students excited about a modern study facility that will better support their academic endeavors. As the SLU student body grows, so does the campus. Administrators are dedicated to ensuring the campus environment meets student needs.
