Midtown is the neighborhood that is home to St. Louis' Grand Center, the arts and entertainment district of the city. SLU students can get reduced ticket prices to most Grand Center attractions. The Fabulous Fox Theater, just a block north of SLU, is the destination for traveling musicals and plays, musical artists such as Lady Gaga and Jason Mraz, and comedians like Robin Williams. Midtown is also home to the Powell Symphony Hall, a variety of small concert venues, and some phenomenal restaurants. One of the major student attractions in Midtown is the Moolah Theater & Lounge, which features a movie theater with couches and a bowling alley.
Outside of Midtown, St. Louis has neighborhoods that offer students a variety of entertainment options. Washington Avenue is home to bars, restaurants, and the City Museum, an interactive playground made completely out of recycled materials from St. Louis. Forest Park is a short bike ride or car ride away and is home to summer musicals and plays, free museums, festivals, and miles of bike and walking trails. The Delmar Loop features the Pageant concert venue, famous St. Louis restaurants, and small boutiques, and it is a popular spot for SLU students and students from the other St. Louis colleges. Downtown is home to St. Louis' three professional sports teams: the Cardinals (MLB), Blues (NHL), and Rams (NFL). SLU has a student night at a Cardinals game once a semester and offers discounted student tickets. The Blues also have discounted student nights, and Rams tickets are easy to come by. The University has a great relationship with the St. Louis community, so SLU students are welcomed by business owners of every type.
