Most students will say that they feel at home while attending Saint Martin’s, but there are students who think it is too small, too boring, or they just don't enjoy their experience. The professors are knowledgeable, accessible, and friendly, with class sizes that are small. Overall, the campus is beautiful, and there are a variety of opportunities students can grasp if they want to (e.g., leadership, study abroad, etc.). The location of the University can be a turn-off for students who come from a big city, but oftentimes students will find the hidden gems Lacey-Olympia-Tumwater has to offer. Nature surrounds the school, and it is no surprise for students to spot a herd of deer up close. And when it's time to graduate, all undergraduate and graduate students receive a hood—you definitely will not get that at a bigger school. These are just a few reasons Saint Martin’s University is the place to be, to feel at home.

The functioning Benedictine monastery is very unique to Saint Martin’s. Monks serve as professors as well as other roles at the University. Many times you will see a person wearing all black with what looks like a cape; these are the monks and their attire is called a habit. Where else can you find monks playing video games in the student union building? At Saint Martin's, it's an everyday occurrence. As a Benedictine university, classes are often taught with the staples of the Benedictine philosophy. Students graduate feeling, knowing, and growing into their individuality with "faith, reason, and service" in mind.
