Saint Mary's College is known for its excellent Nursing Program and science department. You have to have good grades to get in, and usually there are 90 applicants while only 50 are accepted. Sometimes they allow more though, if they have a really good group. You want to try to have the best grades you can, especially in science classes.

I came from a pretty great Catholic high school, and actually found Saint Mary's to be a little easier. I'm sure in the upper-division classes it gets harder, but as for freshman classes, it was pretty easy.

Very near my school there are some fast food places, but if you have a car, there are nicer places with more variety in downtown. Depends on what you are looking for.

There is wireless access available all over the Saint Mary's campus as well as a 24/7 computer lab in the lower level of the library where students can print and use the computers. While you could survive without a computer of your own I would recommend having one so you don't have to always trek from your dorm to a computer lab whenever you want to work on a paper or check email and such.

Guys & Girls:
There are no guys at Saint Mary's since it is an all girls school, but the neighboring colleges are co-ed. With that being said all 3 of the close schools' students interact a lot with one another.

Saint Mary's College is a private Catholic all girls College so there is not too much diversity although there are different kinds of people who come to this school. Most of the people who come to Saint Mary's are white women of middle to upper class with some who are exceptions.

The campus facilities at Saint Mary's are great. The student center is a newer building and is very modern with the bookstore, dining hall, convenient store and theater located in it as well as some other things. The athletic center at Saint Mary's has a lot of different kinds of equipment to offer for fitness but does lack a pool. Although this is true I hear in the next few years they are going to build a newer and more modern building for fitness. As for green space there is a lot all around campus like trails, open green quads, and a lake area where you can sit to study outside and other places around campus.

The dining hall has somewhat of a variety with some foods that are constant in case you dont feel like trying something new, but as most people say dining hall food gets old after awhile. There is also a little convenient store where you can go pretty much any time of the day before 11 to buy ice cream and snacks or order some food if you miss the dining hall hours.

I love my school for its small class size and very good professors that take the time to get to know their students and to explain the things they need to teach in an understandable way. Some professors such as my sociologist and art professors will even bring in candy or snacks for long classes or just for holidays like Halloween. I would definitely pick Saint Mary's College again because of the amazing teachers and the school spirit and connection through Notre Dame football and the fact that its not a huge school.

I feel financial aid assistance at my school is pretty average from my experiences. But it did receive some scholarships for having good grades in high school and I received some extra scholarships my sophomore year of college because my freshman year I had an above average GPA.

There are many different types of foods available off campus such Chinese, Mexican, Japanese, Greek, etc. You can choose between chain restaurants, fast food, or some of the small locally owned places. Many of these places are close for the most part and are average cost in price with some being a bit above average due to the nature of the restaurants. No places the places I know of offer student discounts but for the most part they aren't needed. I know one of my favorite locally owned places is an authentic Mexican restaurant called La Esparanza where they have amazing authentic food and great prices.

I have yet to take part in an internship due to the fact that I am only a sophomore and am still undecided. Though this is true It is required that students should take part in some form of an internship before graduating and the career crossings office on campus I hear is very helpful with this.

As an undecided I do not have an exact program at the moment, but I am very happy with the general bachelor of arts program that everyone starts out on without a major. Since my school is a liberal arts school you are exposed to many different subjects to help turn you into a well rounded student and to help you find what may interest you for a future career.

The weather at Saint Mary's College is fine depending on what you like. You get all the seasons here whether its hot summers, cool falls, or freezing winters. If you come to school here be prepared for all different forms of weather because it can be hot one day and cold the next.

The dorms at Saint Mary's College are older but they are still clean and are fine to live in. The campus as a whole is not very big so all the dorms are close to the buildings where different classes take place. I personally only stayed in the dorms my first year, but stayed off campus this year due to saving money.

I believe that my school is some what strict in important matters such as drinking on campus and underage drinking but that is because of safety and obviously legal reasons. Saint Mary's College takes safety and their mission seriously which is why they are some what strict in these areas and while it is up to you to show up for class professor will take points off because showing up is part of being successful in college.

Saint Mary's has a very good transportation system. There is a free shuttle that will take you back and forth between neighboring campuses for classes and other club activities as well as different stops on the campus. There is also a lot of taxis available for taking you to nearby areas for a relatively reasonable price. In all there is a lot of convenient ways of transportation on and between campuses.

I have never seen any drug or alcohol use on my college campus at Saint Mary's College. There are some people who take part in drugs and alcohol but if it occurs more so across the street at a neighboring university where Saint Mary's students will visit with other students. It all depends on who you hangout with. For the most part drugs aren't ever seen as an issue, it is more so the drinking of alcohol that is a problem. With this being a problem I think Saint Mary's as well as neighboring schools do a good job at enforcing rules and regulations on drinking.

It is pretty much all rich, white, Catholic girls.

Many scholarships are given to incoming freshmen, but its harder to get scholarships as a sophomore, junior, or senior!
College Sophomore 2013-10-23T20:46:16Z
There are a lot of computers in the library and there are some other computer centers throughout campus! There is even one on the first floor of my dorm! It's nice not having to leave my dorm.

The Sweep, ND Midnight Express, and 7 Inbound/Outbound are great! I wish their stop times were more reliable though - sometimes they're early, sometimes they're late. There should be a mobile phone tracker for students to use! And Blinky is the BEST.
College Sophomore 2013-10-23T20:38:16Z
No one really cares.... Everyone focuses on ND football!

Lots of chain restaurants but I wouldn't say the diversity is that great compared to other areas.

I had internship while on the Washington Semester Programs so I was in Washington DC. I found an internship which was four credits of my semester, working two days a week. It wasn't paid but I was given a travel stipend. Nursing and Education majors have clinicals and teaching hours which are set up for you and give you great hands on experience.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
