I am planning on finding an internship because it will help me get job opportunities and more experience with what I want to do career wise. Getting a paid internship is great but internships that does not pay is great too because you are still learning and getting great experience. If you love what you do the money will come regardless.

Our football team is good this year, but the student section is not the most exciting at times.

Samford's public safety officers patrol the campus 24-7, maintaining suspicious activity to a minimum. For every dormitory on campus there is a residence assistant that regulates student activity and enforces room checks every once in a while. The University is a dry campus that restricts the use of alcohol, hookas, and drugs. If caught with possession or committing certain acts not abiding by the rules values violations are enforced.

I am attending Samford University, and I have been exquisitely enthralled with my education throughout my attendance. I am a Biology major and in the Pre-Med program. The school offers outstanding professors who lecture with the utmost prestige and guidance. They also assist in promoting research programs developing insight on a specific fields of interest.

Student Discounts Are Great! It's so nice to receive student discounts at restaurants. Although not all restaurants give student discounts, it's fantastic when they do!

Academics, campus ministries, social life, it's great.

It's a Baptist University. It's a Baptist university, but that doesn't mean that Samford is lacking in Major options. Samford has one of the few Pharmacy schools in 'Bama, and offers a pretty broad spectrum of other majors for a school its size.

It's Good Enough – The rooms aren't huge, but you can't really expect dorm rooms to be very large anyways. The fact that you're no more than a ten minute walk away from any class on campus makes up for it.

Guys & Girls:
Pleasant Folks – The guys on campus are usually pretty including and friendly. Most of the girls are attractive, nice and down to earth. There are exceptions of course, being the party crowd, but they're a pretty small bunch.

Birmingham Is Pretty Cool! Samford is right on the outskirts of Birmingham and there is always something to do in this city. Being raised in a small town, it was a big transition for me. At first it was a little stressful, but after a while I discovered that Birmingham is a really fun place to live if you know how to avoid rush hour.

It Was Alright – I mean I have nothing bad to say about the office of financial aid. They were very helpful in telling me what I had on my award letter and exactly giving me a little more scholarship money soci would be able to go to school.

The Caf – Its good to eat, but it does get repetitive, so the student has to get creative. Other than that the food is reall good.

Its very pretty at Samford Unversity, but being in alabama it gets hot and really humid. Other than that the weather is really great

Every Experience is Unique – Even though Samford is a small university, it still offers a wide variety of things to be involved in, places to find you niche. And due to the small nature of the student body, you are not limited to one type of involvement (i.e. Greek Life, Athletics, campus ministries, etc.). You are free and able to do whatever interests you, being as involved or uninvolved as you would like.
College Junior 2012-07-24T21:47:58Z
Drugs Are Uncommon – People are not really involved with drugs on campus. That most likely comes from Samford's strick drug and alcohol policy. Alcohol is more common on campus but also must be hidden since its a dry campus. If you get caught with drugs or alcohol there are pretty big repercussions.

We have a great business school with incredible teachers. The curriculum is challenging but serves to prepare for the real world. I work hard in my classes but I respect my teachers and understand why I am having to do the work assigned therefore it makes my major enjoyable.

Tons of Variety – There are tons of different restaurants ranging from local places to big chain restaurants.

The Teachers Care About Your Learning – The teachers are all really knowledgable and care about you as a person.

Good, but Not Much Need on Campus – Because it's a small campus, there's not a huge need for transportation on campus; however, Campus Security is available to escort anyone to his/her dorm if he/she feels unsafe (for free), which is nice. As Samford is in Birmingham, there are many options for long-distance travel--e.g., train, bus, airplane, and of course car.

Usually Great, but Sometimes It's Weird – Being in Alabama, we have pretty mild weather. It doesn't snow a lot in the winter (but when it does, the campus is Christmas-card beautiful). It gets pretty hot here in the summer, but it's manageable. Weather around season changes can be incredibly variable--in the fall, one day it might be sunny and warm and the next day it rains and the temperature drops 20 or 30 degrees...it will stay like that for at least a few days, and then it'll usually warm up again.

Amazing Faculty, Challenging Curriculum – My first year at Samford was challenging academically. I really felt like I was learning the material and being well-prepared for future classes in my degree. The curriculum is interesting and provides students with a knowledgable background in literature, Western history, writing, fitness and health, and Biblical history. 80% of the faculty members at Samford have a terminal degree in their field. They are not only extremely knowledgable, but also extremely helpful! Every professor has weekly office hours and might even offer his/her phone number to students in case they need help at an odd time. The small class sizes (20-30 in most cases) ensures that no student falls through the cracks and class discussion greatly adds to a typical lecture. Samford has many nationally ranking academic programs, including law, business, nursing, and education.

Policy Enforced – Samford is a Christian university with no toleration for alcohol or drugs. If a student is caught in either activity, a serious punishment is in store. Now, with that said, students still take the risk. There is definitely a drinking scene if you search for it. I have not heard anything about drug use, but students are allowed to smoke cigarettes on campus. Overall, I barely notice it, because I have found a large friend group that does not seek any of those activities. I have experienced absolutely no peer pressure when it comes to drinking or doing drugs. If you chose not to do these things, you will in no way be alienated by other students.

Like Nowhere Else – Growing up in a big college town, I would have never seen myself taking part in any sort of Greek Life. But Samford is like any other. The Greeks on campus support not only the members of their own organization, but all the other organizations on campus. Don't get me wrong, there is certainly a healthy rivalry, but my college experience would not be the same without being a part of Greek Life at Samford.

Wonderful Locals – Birmingham is a beautiful city with every kind of attraction you can think of. There are clubs, museums, semi-professional baseball, multiple universities, an abundace of beautiful parks, a near-by theme park, festivals galore, and the best shopping in Alabama!
Sorry, there are no reviews.
