The Enchanted Forest – The weather is usually very nice here. It rains every now and then, but usually there are clear skies and sunshine. Because of the beautiful weather, squirells and birds come out and run around campus. Samford's campus is in the middle of a forested area, so the weather and the location make a magical mood.

Respect Eachother – Smoking is allowed at Samford University. However, smokers must be courteous to others and cannot smoke in classrooms or buildings. No other drug is really accepted.

Not Enough – They need to provide more options for those who want to park.

Apparently there is a Samford shuttle, although I've never seen it. There are no buses or other public transportation vehicles that come there. The parking situation is also infuriating if you are a commuter and don't live on campus.

Major Division – There is a major division between Greeks and Independents mostly because of the economic situation of the students. The students on scholarships can't afford to be Greek, and those that are Greek flaunt their money. Occasionally, Greek and Indies have good mingling in campus areas like University Ministries, RUF, and Campus Outreach. Greeks also have a stereotypical "dress" that can be spotted from anywhere.

Reasonable, but Room for Improvement – While the freshmen have their own parking garage directly behind their dorms, upperclassmen have a little more difficult time with parking availability. Permit costs are certainly reasonable and last a whole year. There are $50 parking violations, but these can be objected in the Student Senate. Many people do not a have a car on campus and do not seem to have an issue getting around.

Be Creative! The food in the "caf," as we call it at Samford, is good ol' southern home cooking. There are six-seven different options offered every meal. Yes, they do repeat meals, but that should not be an issue if students try out the different options and try to find a balance. Sometimes, nothing looks good except the pizza, but that happens in relation to food in general. There is also a food court that offers Chick-fil-a and other delicious options if the caf is not appealing on a particular day.

N-CLEX Pass Rates of 100% – The Ida V. Moffett School of Nursing at Samford University is an excellent, first-class program. It is consistently recognized as one of the top programs in the southeastern United States. The program is intense and structured to be completed in four years. Master and Doctorate degrees are offered in a variety of specific nursing vocations. The faculty and facilities of the nursing school are top notch and have played a large part in board passing rates of 100% in the past few years.

There is a good court in the university center that has chikfila, a sandwich shop, a wrap/burrito section, a baked potato bar, fountain drinks and all kinds of snacks and drinks to choose from.
There is also a cafeteria upstairs that has a salad bar, ice cream, fountain drinks, grilled chicken and then three other sections that have different types of food each day.

Every time I step foot in our three-level library, I feel like Belle in Beauty and the Beast when the Beast shows her his library! There are an overwhelming amount of resources available, with plenty of space in which to sit. Each level is classified by quietness, with the third level enforcing silence. It is a wonderful place to focus on studying!

The workload at Samford is bearable. It is challenging, but once students are in the major that they really enjoy, homework becomes almost fun! It is also a accessible campus to meet friends to study with. Teachers are understanding of your time, but ultimately understand that we are here to work, not to party!

No Paying to Print! Printing is excellent! Printing costs are included in your tuition, so it relieves students from having to pay every time they print!

What We're Spared from – Coming from a Christian such as I, and attending a Christian school, I believe that the rules Samford enforces are for our benefit! I don't think a lot of people realize what havoc we are spared from in our 'bubble' in Birmingham. I am so grateful that I am able to walk in my dorm building wearing pajamas without a boy walking by, and I am so grateful to not have to deal with the drinking scene!

Independent Life – Rush week came like a swarm of bees. Girls were frantically running down the hall to get opinions on dresses, shoes, and cardigans, while the rest of us quietly did homework, anticipating the day when our friends would once again return to sanity. I love independent life, though. In no way do I feel neglected. There are so many other options on campus! I think that Greek Life can be a wonderful thing where sisterhood develops, but as can Independent Life.

Birmingham is an area that still feels part of the "Old South." There is very little racial diversity on our campus. Being raised in England, but recently living in Atlanta, I am used to a wide range of races in one city. Yet Birmingham--and it is reflected in Samford's student body--has not yet adapted to racial diversity. Although this year a large number of Chinese students are studying at Samford, the percentage of other races in our student body is appalling. I believe that our president, faculty, and students are aware of this almost-embarrassing fact, it is tough to recruit when Birmingham is embedded in white culture. Samford, although I love it and am getting an incredible education, is unfortunately commonly known as a 'rich, white school.'

School spirit is not the best at Samford. All teams are pretty good though

Guys & Girls:
Women, Women, Women – 3 to 1 ratio of girls to guys. The majority of girls at Samford are attractive. Not enough diversity to choose from though.
College Junior 2011-11-28T20:32:05Z
The diversity aspect of Samford University is probably the worse. Samford University is predominantly caucasian school.

Although I'm just a freshman, I know I did not make a mistake in choosing Samford. The campus, the faculty, the organizations, the opportunities---all of these things are simply amazing. Samford has a great balance of big/small classes, and of study/social opportunities. Since it is a private Christian school, there are also many great ways to build you faith. Samford is amazing.

The Red Sea – The student body has an organization called the Red Sea that supports our athletic team. The dedication and devotion displayed by this group is amazing. We are proud of our athletes.
