Do not go to this school. Samford is a liberal arts school that graduates lots of clueless students who end up working retail because they never learned anything useful. This happened to me. Don't assume that just because you may earn a degree, that you will be getting a good paying job. Do yourself a favor: save your money, go to a technical college, and learn a real skill. Besides, Samford is not a fun place to be for 4 years. They restrict your freedom, and most of the students are rich snobs.

Off Campus Living – I am a student athlete at Samford university and one thing that is not included in athletic scholarships is the cost off off-campus living. I do not find this fair. I do not find this convienent. I will never get the chance to live off campus because I can not afford it. I could get a job, but then I would not have time for personal health, school, or my sport. Therefore, I would lose my scholarships.

If You Want Wings Go Here – Wings plus is very close to campus. It is found just off of Green Springs Hwy in the Publix shopping center. They offer all kinds of different options for wings and they're keke poo is delicious. If you haven't heard of that particular beverage it is something that you just have to try and you'll know exactly what I mean. This particular place is made for someone who just wants to pick up something and come back to your apt or campus.

Bright Lights, Medium Size City – Night life in Birmingham is always lively and exciting. You will always find something to do, whether it be a party, a club, a concert, a movie, or just hanging out. Birmingham has a large population and I think the city does very well to accommodate that. Downtown has an urban feel which is great to just hang out in, safety is a precaution and people do need to be careful when downtown, however, police officers do their best to protect. Among birmingham there are many different shopping centers that provide different restaurants and or different activities. I am so blessed to live in Birmingham and I absolutely love it!

Breath of Fresh Air! I love Samford and I wouldn't want to have gone to any other school. There are so many activities (sometimes it's so hard to choose which ones to go to!), but at the same time the academics are great. I don't have enormous classes, which I love; the professors can actually get to know us.

Cost of Living on Campus – The cost of living on campus is expensive. The amount that is paid is not worth the quality of the room that is given.

Library Is Nice and Quiet – The Library at Samford University is very nice and quiet. It is a wonderful place to go study. Samford's library is full of information that could be helpful on almost any topic that you have.

Nursing Major – They have a really great nursing program, and right now I believe they actually have a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX exam to become a registered nurse. Another great thing is that you are in the nursing program from freshman year on, you don't have to apply later.

They are very strict about parking. they have diffent lots and studetns as well as faculty get a parking decal depending where students live on campus or off. You must have a decal to park in certain areas or you will get a ticket. Along with yoru id, your decal is how they let you on campus past gate hours.

They give a good amount of tickets. There is no drinking allowed on campus which is a good thing because moststudents who live on campus are underage and therfore drinking is illegal.

Health & Safety:
There is someone always in their office at all times. They constantly drive around campus checking things out. THey are very friendly. I feel very safe at Samford day and night.

Was Denied for No Reason – The Perkins Loan, which my family got last year and made me able to attend Samford, we were denied this year. We appealed and were denied again, and no reasons were ever given.

Brookwood Mall – About a minute's drive from campus, you'll find the awesome Jason's Deli, and the fabulous Five Guys. The mall itself is home to various great options for a quick bite between classes.

Samford has a 12:1 student to faculty ration. The professors are always willing to help in any way that they can.

There are a lot of apartments in the area for a variety of prices. I would recommend getting a roommate.

Birmingham is a surprisingly diverse city. There are a load of restaurants and shopping opportunities. Urban Standard is one of the best coffee places in the city. There is also a local chain called O'Henrys that is popular and has decent coffee. The dollar theater is one of the most popular places to go. You definitely have to do some exploring to find your favorites places. The only major down side of Samford and Birmingham is you have drive in order to get anywhere.

Huge Affect – There's a period in the year where it rains everyday. Everything i soaked the roads are always flooded. Because of this you are basically trapped on campus.

The teams at Samford are average and fan support is very little. The facilities are getting much better. Students have school spirit in honor of the school, and not the sports teams.

They Should Give More Money – Samford gets tons of donations, but most just go to beautify the Quad. That's great and all, but I think, with all that money, they should offer more scholarships to people besides middle class whites. I think I deserved more money than they gave me.

Samford has great facilities like updated workout rooms, four-floor library, and pretty interiors. There are few elevators on campus, though, so it's really not wheel-chair friendly at all.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
