Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

San Diego is a large city and encompasses an enormous variety of food choices. Since San Diego is so diverse, you will find food from all over the world. There are several popular choices that include healthier dining options than on-campus food, such as the Pita Pit and 4.0 Deli. If you are willing to drive, you can pretty much eat at any place you want, whether it is at a fast food or sit-down restaurant. Areas such as Old Town, Downtown, and La Jolla offer some of the best dining experiences—both affordable and expensive. The fanciest restaurants are mostly located in the costal areas, and these places offer some of the most exquisite menus in California. For the typical college student on a tight budget, there are plenty of moderately priced options located a few minutes away in Mission valley.

The only downside to off-campus dining is that, right next to campus, options are primarily limited to fast food and takeout. There really are no sit-down restaurants within walking distance of campus. The closest one is Denny’s, which most people choose to visit in the wee hours of the morning. If you are willing to drive around, your cuisine options are endless. Any kind of food you could possibly want is located a short distance away. The bottom line: Whether you want a fast-and-go restaurant, a nice dinner with the parents, or even a dinner to impress the new interest, San Diego has a great variety to choose from.

Not Too Bad

There are lots of dining options around my campus such as Fast Foods like McDonalds and Jack in the Box,there is also many taco shops and there are lots of variety. The cost of food is about average 5 dollars a meal. There are always coupons that are passed out every semester and some with really good deals. within a 1 mile radius I can think of about 15 places to eat at. Within the college area there are way more options.( Aztec Center on College) The best places to eat at that are close to campus are Buddies, ( burger joint) 4.0 Deli, Yogurtland, Tapioca Express, Jersey Mikes, but those are the only a few great places i can think of out of the many. The service is not bad either, I guess compared to other colleges there is more variety and availability.

Off-Campus Variety

There are several off-campus options, several of which are in close walking distance. Oshi's sushi is a favorite amongst students as well as the sandwich shop, 4.0 Deli. State Street Grill, located next to the dorms, has great prices on drinks. A little further, yet still in walking distance if one doesn't mind a ten-fifteen minute walk, there is Woodstock's pizza and Yogurtland. If strapped for money, there are coupons located in the Student Dollar Stretcher which is given out on campus.
