College Prowler Take
Aztecs find that off-campus housing is a definite must for returning students. One year in the worn-out residence halls is more than enough for most people. It’s great to live in the dorms the first year, but once you’ve established friendships, most want to try living in a better place without the strict enforcement and inhibiting policies. Within walking distance of campus, there are plenty of options for housing. Whether you’re looking to live close to campus or a drive’s distance away, San Diego offers plenty of viable options. Trying to find a reasonably priced apartment and a safe spot close enough to campus is fairly difficult. The cost of living in San Diego has gone up in the past few years. Close to campus you will find a variety of apartments suited for the San Diego State student. If you move further off campus, you can find a wider range of option. The downside to the apartment situation is that within the college area, the apartments tend to be a little tattered. Almost every apartment available requires a 12-month lease, so you must stay in San Diego for the entire summer. Still, there are plenty of housing options and living situations available both close to campus and further away at a variety of prices. With all the options available around campus and throughout San Diego, you are sure to find something that suits your tastes and your budget.

Housing is not as convenient off campus if it’s not within walking distance, or at most a five minute drive. It’s worth it if what you want is cheaper housing, independence, and the ability to drink in your room without being scared of the RAs busting in your room and giving you a hundred dollar fine. |
