Since SDSU is a big campus with a lot of students, it is hard to find an open computer. We do have a couple computer labs where students can use computers. I do think if a laptop is accessible, students should bring one.

San Diego is a wonderful place. I am a native San Diegan, so I already knew fun things to do before I came to college. There are many beaches around and movie theaters. Other universities nearby are UCSD and USD.

I feel pretty safe on campus. We can call campus police if we have problems or want to be escorted back to our cars or around campus. Although it is an open campus, I don't feel scared walking on campus.

The facilities at SDSU are good. We have a gym on campus, the ARC, that I have heard is very nice to work out at. We also have the Aquaplex, where people can go to swim. Our library is also nice. It is pretty big, and there are a lot of computers where people can do research and print out classwork. There are plenty of food places and two Starbucks on campus, which I like!

Public transportation is decent. You have to wait a while for the trolleys and buses, but the trolley goes pretty much everywhere in San Diego, which makes it easier for people without cars.

Some of the teachers are pretty cool, but it seems like it's hard to come across a teacher that actually teaches you something. Even the really cool ones are only cool because they are friendly but most of the time the stuff they tell me doesn't really stick. Maybe it's because I'm an English major and all we do is talk about the endless amounts of books we read. Our school is known for its business program, and I'm not sure what else.

You don't hear about crime too often on campus, so I suppose security is doing a good job. I never really see them except for the night time when they prowl for drunk drivers, which is a good thing but definitely overdone. They are mostly trying to get their ticket quota up. Not too much crime that I know of happens very often, although there are a few serious things every once in a great while., like busting hard drugs and rapes. The school has emergency beacons placed around the campus and lots of lights that are always on, which is a good thing of course.

Most of the teachers I've had so far are pretty cool actually, although the school is nothing special academically. Supposedly the business program is great, but I am skeptical. The school seems like any other public university—too many GEs that students can cruise through without learning anything. The workload isn't bad, but there's a lot of reading for English majors, and you always have to take BS classes that no one wants to take and are useless.

In general, public transportation in San Diego is pretty underdeveloped given that it's a pretty major city. The trolley runs right onto campus, which makes commuting much less stressful. In the daytime it's okay, but it gets a little sketchy at night, though.

San Diego is a really fun city, and it's close to lots of things to do- beach, mountains, desert, Orange County (Disneyland and what not), and LA. I will say it's hard to get bored in San Diego if attending college is your first time in the city. UCSD, USD, and PLNU are all fairly close to us, but the schools never really socialize. SDSU is much more carefree, and the others are much more intense and studious.

I don't live on campus, so I'm not really sure about housing security. When I was a freshman, a guy I was dating lived in campus housing, and he and his roommates never locked their doors and never had any problems. I still would though, definitely. There are always shady people around. As a girl, I always keep a little thing of mace with me in case I ever get stuck around campus at night by myself or with a few of my friends. And obviously, always lock your car. I feel like I hear about a lot of people getting their things stolen.

As most of the country knows, SDSU is not exactly a drug-free campus. Any given person could smoke, and a lot of people are into harder stuff. Not to give them a bad name, but if you know people in the Greek system and you're into something, it would probably be a little easier for you to get what you're looking for. Drinking is more popular for the general population, but drugs aren't a rarity.

I have had a great experience at this school. I always hear about SDSU’s bad reputation and about how it’s just a party school, but college is what you make of it. I am here to learn and get a degree. I have learned a lot, and I have had some wonderful professors and mentors. I have gotten involved with a few activist groups on campus and met friends who share my drive. Other than that, my social life exists outside of campus, and that’s what I want. |

Teachers are knowledgeable and understanding. They genuinely care for their students. My classes are appealing simply because I like my major. You have to enjoy what you want to do with your life to find your classes attractive. The teachers sometimes make classes interesting as well. |

There’s almost a 2/3 to 1/3 girls to guys ratio. There are so many hot girls down here; it drives me insane, in a good way. As far as the guys, there’s a good sampling of them with everything from frat-heads to nerds. There’s every type of guy at this school. |
