Good but Could Be Beter

Party are gonna happen. It's college. What the cops don't understand is that drinking will happen. Instead of busting kids for walking home drunk, they should get drunk drivers and watch for girls getting raped.

A Beautiful School

Almost everyone at San Diego State is an attractive person. There are a lot of fun people here, but they are surprising smart as well. The daily attire is very fashionable, especially for the girls, but easy going at the same time so we can head off to the beach at any time. Everyone here seems to have great qualities, what more could you ask for?

Not Too Bad

There are lots of dining options around my campus such as Fast Foods like McDonalds and Jack in the Box,there is also many taco shops and there are lots of variety. The cost of food is about average 5 dollars a meal. There are always coupons that are passed out every semester and some with really good deals. within a 1 mile radius I can think of about 15 places to eat at. Within the college area there are way more options.( Aztec Center on College) The best places to eat at that are close to campus are Buddies, ( burger joint) 4.0 Deli, Yogurtland, Tapioca Express, Jersey Mikes, but those are the only a few great places i can think of out of the many. The service is not bad either, I guess compared to other colleges there is more variety and availability.

I Love My School

San Diego is amazing, and the weather is always nice.

Two Kinds of Cops

At San Diego State there are two types of police people. The first kind is the regular San Diego police. These police could care less if you are walking back from the fraternities at two o' clock in the morning. The second kind of police are the on-campus police. These police just patrol San Diego State. They are everywhere. If you are walking home, even in a straight line, they will most likely pull you over. If you are not sober walking back, my suggestion would be to stay at whatever party you are at because the on-campus police will find you.

Apartments Are Nicer Than Dorms

Living in the dorms my freshman year, I appreciate any other type of housing much more. When my roommates and I picked our apartment for next year we looked at cost and walking distance to campus. There were many apartments to choose from that were all moderately priced. The staff was very nice and no one has to be checked in. There is also a pool in the apartment complex. That is always a perk!

San Diego Weather Is the Best

Coming from the military and living in the East coast and in Japan, San Diego has the best weather thus far. It is consistent for the most part, not being too cold or too hot. It is dry heat as well, unlike the East coast and its excessive humidity.

Good Use of Personal or College Computers

There are several computers that can be accessed throughout the campus. Printing is expensive, but readily accessible. Wireless for use with personal computers can be used across campus as well. The wireless network can be slow at times, but in the early morning and late evening it can be very quick for such a broad use by students.

Wireless Internet Can Be Problematic

The wireless access at San Diego State can be very unreliable at times. While studying in the library, on Facebook in the dorm, or just on campus in general, the WiFi on campus can be strong in some places but in others it won't work at all, or the internet will cut out and be off for a given amount of time. Case in point, I was in the library two weeks ago where there should be WiFi, but halfway through my study session the wireless internet just cut out and the whole entire library was without internet access for around 10-15 minutes.

Living on Campus

The dorms are definitely an experience which really help you transition out of your high school persona. You meet a lot of people living on campus and really do get involved. The dorms can be quite costly but freshman year you should live on campus.

House Party Madness....

Lots of Greek life parties and non-sorrority/fraternity parties to go to. Make sure you have a buddy to watch your back if you're a female partygoer.

It Could of Been Better

San Diego is my dream city, but leaving in a dorm kind of ruined my experience. It is better to live off campus in your own place where you dont have to worry about lousy roomates that dont know how to eat with their mouth close. Academics are great here at SDSU not to mention I am in the business program because of its outstanding position nationwide.

Not Worth All of the Money!

All on-campus living options are available to San Diego State freshmen, so the school takes advantage of this "demand" by overcharging completely. The nicest, newest dorm is Chapultepec, but it is extremely isolated from the rest of the dorms on campus. Housing prices have just been changed (and raised) so that each hall is exactly the same price, regardless of convenience or bigger/smaller room size. The housing process comes with many complications; I was once unable to register for classes because I did not pay a housing fee that I was not informed about. Some dorms are very social, while others are evidently not as much. East and west commons include places like Panda Express and Starbucks, but they are not open on weekends and close very early on Fridays.

Not Too Many Options

I did not qualify for any of the few scholarships offered for my major.

Drugs Are Not Too Popular

SDSU is know as a party school, so driking is more popular among students. The drug scene is not too known about, it depends on the person you are and who are your friends. One thing that is somewhat popular is smoking cigarettes.

Campus Activities

There are so many places to get involved on campus. Fraternities, Sororities, Honors societies, service groups, religious groups, sports groups, etc. You name it, we have it. And if we don't, you can start it up yourself!

Simple and Smooth

I had no trouble receiving my financial aid from San Diego State. I turned in my FAFSA and all the required documents that they had requested. I was able to view and receive my financial aid rather quickly. Although it went very smoothly I would advise you to make sure to get in contact with your financial aid officer just in case a problem occurs.

No Parking

Parking on campus seems to look like a nightmare. There is no parking anywhere and the traffic is ridiculous during class time if you're commuting. Make sure to get to school early enough to find parking. Permits are very expensive and I would really advise future students to walk or bike to class instead of driving.

Safety First

I would say that SDSU is a fairly safe environment. Ive never felt unsafe on the campus but there are designated emergency poles all over campus that will immediately contact security for you for any reason. Campus security is constantly patrolling as well. Just be responsible and you'll be fine.

Freshman Dorms Are Adequate.

The freshman dorms at San Diego State University arent the best but they are ideal for a student who wants to get his work done and interact with others. There are many different dorms all over campus and it is based on your own preference. Everyone is very welcoming and friendly in the dorms.

Weather

The weather can't get any better than San Diego. Temperatures are mediterranean and do not vary really. Summers are hot, winters are warm.

Drugs on Campus

Much of an afterthought these days. I am not sure about the Greek System as I am not a member but the only prominent drug is Adderall, which seems to be used by those trying to pull all-nighters.

No Car Necessary If You Live in the Dorms

I didn't bring my car and I don't miss not having a car. It's nice to be able to walk everywhere. The public transportation is great and my friends & I take the Trolley to downtown, the football games and for shopping.

Plenty of House Parties

There are plenty of house parties to go to with good music playing all the time. Clubs are there to go to by trolley, but you could always find something close to campus.

Peer Pressure

Lots of peer pressure to drink or do marijuana because lots of people do it.
