Bar on Campus
Located on the second floor of the Cesar Chavez Student Center, the pub offers a black-lit pub to watch sports on the big screen and enjoy a range of bar snacks, bottled and draft beers, wine, and even sangria. The best part is it's cheap. Not the best place to study because it gets loud very easily, but you can take your drinks anywhere on the second floor, to eat and listen to bands featured on the student center stage.
Bowling on Campus
None
Coffeehouse on Campus
There are countless cafés and eateries on campus, with outdoor seating, that sell coffee and tea, but there is not a separate "coffeehouse" that only focuses on brews.
Movie Theater on Campus
There are several very large auditoriums on campus that can also serve as movie theaters. Francis Ford Coppola's theater in the Fine Arts Building is the closest to an actual theater. Film screenings are frequent and well-presented. Check out the calendar for showtimes and community events.
"Green" Initiatives
SFSU is committed to coming up with "greener" alternatives by creating transportation options that decrease carbon emissions, coming up with more sustainable dining choices and more green cleaning, developing eco-friendly housing and purchasing environmentally-friendly products. There are also countless landscaping, gardening, and community initiatives within the University.
School Slang
  • Cesar Chavez: Student center on campus
  • The M train: The Muni train that stops right outside of campus
Traditions
Cherry Blossom Music Festival: Typically, this festival takes place over a couple of weekends in April. It involves traditional Japanese customs and culture.
Urban Legends
Professors smoke marijuana with the students.
Favorite Things To Do
Students like to grab a coffee and cookie at one of the many cafés and then soak up the fog on the benches outside. The student center, which is equipped with an arcade, is popular for studying and hanging out with friends in between classes.
