I'm working on my medical assisting certificate. I love the work load because it challenges me. The student advisors check on me by phone which I love that they care about your success. I'm still working in class and have yet to start internships but I cant wait.

My school consists of working class, single parents, and ex-military who juggle with fulltime jobs and families to take care of. Getting an education is the goal to succeed and improve themselves.

Online Learning – I have never taken an online course before and I have to say that I have been missing out this entire time. I am such a better learner going to school online, I am able to go as fast or slow for the most part that I want. Also I am able to teach my self in a way that I know i am sure to remember and learn from. I love it.

I have never in any of the years of going to school loved the teachers that I have had thus far, they are so open and are willing to help and work with you every step of the way. They are the best.

CMA Program is a Bust – I am highly disappointed to find out that I have been unable to get any real assistance from my adviser in finding a place to complete my externship. Without my externship I can't graduate. What they don't tell you is most (all) medical facilities are unwilling to take students from schools that they don't know/out of state/online/don't have existing contracts with.
I have had to do all the legwork in trying to set up an externship site and have been turned down 50 out of 50 times all because this school is out of state and is online.
I'm sure this school is probably good for taking online classes that do not require any type of externship. As for anything medical related it is best to take classes on a real campus where you get hands on experience.

San Joaquin Valley College – San Joaquin Valley College consists of a variety of people that are there to get a education and have a career. Other than us being parents or having to work full time jobs we are all just students trying to further our education.

San Joaquin Valley College – I chose this school it is flexible with my personal schedule. They will work with you if you are unable to complete something. It is also closer for me to go back and fourth everyday.

I like the school but there is not any information given to us about clubs to join for students with high GPAs or anything like that. ALso, no information is given for scholarships or outside grants.

The system has been fairly reliable. At times they are performing upgrades but they're usually done quickly with little interruption.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
The Financial Aid staff at SJVC in Hesperia are very helpful and friendly. They took great care and getting my husband (who is also a student) and I taken care of in regards to our finances. I don't particularly care for the fact that I'll be having a student loan to pay off after all is said and done, but I am pleased that I was able to receive the help they gave me.
