Not Strict – The school is not strict at all, almost anything goes. When I lived on the dorms I drank with my door open a lot. Just become friends with your CF (RA).

Engineering has a heavy workload at Santa Clara, but I enjoy it a lot. The professors are fun and you learn a lot. You enjoy what you learn, and the labs are a lot of fun. And it is easy to get a job after graduation.

Between the good looking people, the great weather, and the great social scene I love Santa Clara and would choose it again in a heartbeat.

Easy to Get – The school is expensive so most people qualify for financial aid and get it. I didn't think Santa Clara would be an option for me because of the price, but I manage to get a lot of financial aid.

Caltrain, Buses, Airport Right Next Door – First of all, the school can be seen from the Airport, and there is a free shuttle that goes to the airport to right across the street of the main entrance of Santa Clara every 20 minutes. The Caltrain takes you to most cities in the bay area all the way up to san francisco and it is right across the street. Buses can take you easily around too.

Guys & Girls:
Good Looking – Pretty much everyone is good looking, not even joking. It is sometimes joked about that Santa Clara must require a photo on your application.

The Social Scene – It is tradition to name your off-campus house and decorate it to the theme. example: Boardwalk, backyard is filled with sand and has a boat on the roof with a surfboard with a sharkbite that has "Boardwalk" written on it. Bermuda: decorated like Bermuda obviously. etc.

Parties Are Great! and Bars Are Fun Too – Off campus parties are a blast, almost any day of the week you can go out. Normal party schedule: Monday night: C&J's bar; Tuesday night: The Hut (Bar); Wednesday Night: lots of house parties (Wednesday's are a huge party day for santa clara based off of tradition), Thursday: Blinky's (Bar), Friday night: House parties. Saturday Day: Day party (during Fall and Spring Quarters there will be day parties pretty much every saturday, and if you don't go to the day parties, you can always find casual drinking throughout the day with almost anyone), Saturday Night: House parties. Sunday, day of rest/studying. The parties are a lot of fun and you can always find some to go to! and unlike other schools, no night parties charges for admissions, all of them are free. (some of the annual major day parties do, but it will only be like $2-5).

Taste Good, but Repetitive – The food taste really good and great quality. But it does get repetitive towards the end of the year, which is probably the same for most universities.

Everyone Is from a Different Culture, but the Same Economic Background – it seems like almost everyone is from a different state, city, country, etc. Not very many locals, however, most people are still from the upper-class. I would feel comfortable going to any major city in America because I know I would know someone from there that went to Santa Clara.

A Huge Variety – You can either go on the "light side", where the landlords are very easy going and there is a huge party scene. Or you can live in "dark side" where it can be quite. off campus housing in general is really nice and you will never have to walk more than two minutes to get to campus.

Computer Labs Are Great and Can Get Internet Anywhere on Campus – Computer labs are great and can get internet anywhere on campus. Engineers can print for free, and all students get pretty much all their printing for free. Easy to find an available computer and easy to print.

Jesuit Philosophy – The academics at Santa Clara are rather comprehensive, so the core curriculum covers a wide range of subjects. Although this is good for the "holistic", Jesuit education that the school aims for, the variety of subjects that students are required to fulfill can be distracting from your selected major. There are many subjects that are covered in the core that are completely irrelevant to certain fields of study, which makes it a little difficult to satisfy major requirements in a decent amount of time.
Otherwise, the curriculum is good, professors are personable, and classes are challenging.

Bus is a great option to travel but many nearby places are walking distance

Drink Is Fairly Popular – Drinking is popular but their is no pressure to drink

The technology at school is average, there are printers in every building, wireless access is available throughout the entire school.

Guys & Girls:
Good Looking – Because Santa Clara prides itself on it's fitness, most guys and girls are good looking. Put it this way, there's a good view as you walk around campus

Health & Safety:
Campus Is Safe – Santa Clara Police are ALWAYS around. It's super safe. I'm comfortable walking around at night by myself to or from a party. No problem. Obviously, its important to be smart but the school and surroundings are very safe. Oh and i NEVER lock my door and have not had a problem in my dorm. I love our campus.

The food is good, but I feel like after a while it gets old. Don't get me wrong tho, the food is made by chefs and there is plenty of variety (Asian, Mexican, Burgers, Sandwhiches, Pasta/Saute, etc.) and it's not a crappy buffet like some other campuses. Nevertheless, it's always nice to go out with some friends to change things up.

Work Hard, Look Good – Santa Clara is one of the fittest colleges in the nation. Everyone is active is some sort of way. It is not uncommon to see people at the gym early in the morning, like 6:30 am, or late at night close to midnight. The facilities are great which includes: a big turf field for soccer (gets packed tues. and thurs.), frisbee, rugby, and flag football. The gym includes basketball/ volleyball courts and people play indoor soccer too. The gym has alot of equipment too.

Santa Clara DOES have greek life, although not a large percentage of the students here participate in it. Greek life dominates the social scene at Santa Clara and is a great way to get involved and meet people. More girls participate in greek life than boys and it seems that you will meet more girls that are in sororities than boys that are in fraternities. With this said, both organizations are awesome and there the perfect balance between sorority/fraternity life and non-greek life on and off campus. Students are certainly not obligated to join a sorority/fraternity and will do fine without joining, but it has definitely been a rewarding expereince thus far and I have met some really great people by participating. Overall, I would advise looking into getting involved in greek life if you attend Santa Clara, you will most likely not regret it!

Health & Safety:
Safety and Security – Very intense campus security, I'm talking ex-seals. These guys mean business. There is also one female security campus secuirty officer that may actually be a male campus security officer, it's hard to say. Nonetheless, these guys get the job done, there's never been an unsolved crime at Santa Clara University
College Junior 2011-12-13T07:21:10Z
Not Too Severe – It's easy to get away with things on this campus if you're not stupid about it, but the first time you get caught doing something against the rules you won't get in much trouble at all. It never gets in the way of having a good time.
College Junior 2011-12-13T07:14:49Z
Health & Safety:
Safe, Sometimes Too Safe – Campus safety responds to EVERYTHING, which is a great thing in many situations, but it can become a hassle because if you're caught throwing up from drinking, you will get written up.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
