Being a minority at this school makes it tough sometimes to get into parties because people assume that you do not go to the school, and most of the parties are not dance parties, just where people drink and talk.

Opportunities Are Everywhere – If you want to be involved and have a job or internship you need to do the research and apply. There are a lot of excellent opportunities that pass a lot of students by because they didn't take the time to find them. Studying abroad in London was an awesome experience, my internship for a film PR company definitely helped in getting me an internship in LA the following summer. The support from faculty is there, you just need to reach out for it.

Lots to Do – Lots to do if you want to do something other than party and you want to take the time to get there. Santa Cruz with the beach is close, so is the city for lots of shopping, nightlife and concerts.

Guys & Girls:
A Lot of Fine Ladies – There are plenty of very attractive females roaming the campus, and although sometimes difficult to find and meet because they aren't attending the bigger parties, finding the hidden gems is a treat.

Swig Is the Perfect Freshman Dorm – Swig, the largest dorm, is the perfect dorm atmosphere for freshman as it houses a large number of new students, therefore allowing them to interact and get to know each other in a fun environment more eaily.

Great Professors – Although all schools have their share of good and not so good professors, thus far I have had a great experience with SCU teachers. They are very available for extra help, hoping to see students succeed, and very knowledgeable.

Health & Safety:
Very Safe – SCU is very safe, you can walk around at any time of the day or night on campus or around the outskirts of campus.

Getting a house is not as easy as finding an apartment but there are many off-campus options. We have houses (if you don't want to host parties frequently, then "dark side" is quieter), townhouses, several apartment complexes Maples, Park Central, Lincoln Park, and more), upscale apartments (Domicilio) and even off-campus university apartments that are brand new this year (Campbell)

Great Computer Labs – The library is fairly new and state-of-the-art with several computer labs with both PCs and Macs. The computers have many programs and software already installed for student use.

You See People from Different Backgrounds Everyday – I think this school is dedicated to creating a student environment that anyone, no matter what their race or ethnicity, can connect with. I myself have friends who are Hispanic, White, Filipino, Chinese, gay, etc. I met all these different types of people at this school.

Comfortable, Amazing, Exquisite – The food offered in the cafeteria has a rich quality that cannot be duplicated. The flavors burst off the plate and into your mouth leaving you satisfied and full of energy to take on that next class!

Not a Lot of School Spirit – Our athletics have not received the necessary support from the school that they should be getting over the years that I have been here. Santa Clara is not a big sports school and it definitely shows in the amount of students who attend the games. This year basketball has somewhat improved as they continue to win but if this was not happening then there would not be the same support. Our school needs a football team!

I feel like the food at Santa Clara is completely overpriced and not of the best quality. It has somewhat improved since last year; however, I still dislike the fact that it's only one catering service. I wish there was more variety on campus and different vendors were offered rather than one. I also don't like the fact that you have to use them for all events that include food. It's especially difficult since they aren't cheap and clubs don't have a whole lot of money to spend on food for events.

It would be nice to have a car. It's really not that expensive to get a permit. If you're keeping a car, its worth getting a permit because trying to find parking is a hassle.

Back OFF – Campus safety is always on everyone's case. It is way too easy to get caught.

Bay Area Diversity – There's good diversity in the types of food around SCU

Caltrain and Buses at Walking Distance – Access to the train and buses are all within walking distance from the school, which makes public transportation even more convenient. However, they can only get people so far before they realize that having a car is still the best way to go.

Upperclassman Sobrato Dorm Works Well – The upperclassman Sobrato dorm, or the "back building," has a very convenient location, with awesome people and a very quiet environment. Everything about Sobrato helps me in my studies.

The Jesuit community and values are great, they want a moral code to be engrained in the students, and are very aware of the fragile predicament our earth is in. The campus alone and how beautiful it is is what made my final decision, as well as the availability of the professors

Frisbee Is Awesome – I am competitive but wanted a sport that was much more leisurely to allow for my studies and demanding schedule. Club sports are awesome here but the variety is not that amazing, they could definitely use some help in intramural. we also don't have football.

Hard to Get a Scholarship – Santa Clara is an extremely expensive school and therefore most students hope to receive some kind of financial aid. I was offered an academic scholarship which has helped me attend school here, but I don't know many other students on academic scholarship. Another option is work study which is fairly easy to come by.

No Driving Needed...ALWAYS Something Going on – The nightlife at SCU is great. For students who are under 21, there are always house parties which are less than 2 blocks from campus. For students who are over 21, there are 4 bars within walking distance from campus (they are all dive bars, but always full of SCU students and never fail to be a good time). I'm extremely against drinking and driving so having all the party spots within walking distance has been great. If its your scene, you can literally find a party almost any night of the week.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
