It seems like almost everyone has a story of the time they were just minding their own business and some Campus Safety guy started harassing them. Luckily, the harassing is always of the “he made me put out my cigarette because I was too close to the building” variety instead of the “he hit me in the head with a flashlight fourteen times” kind. Everyone agrees that the campus is perfectly safe, and oftentimes point to this as evidence that Campus Safety is largely useless; they tend to overlook the part the strictness plays in keeping it that way. CS certainly can be overzealous (I have a story or two of my own), but try to keep in mind that they are providing a service for the students.

That being said, you better watch yourself. CS officers seem to take particular relish in ferreting out corruption on their beats. This usually takes the form of a bottle of tequila in a dorm room closet or backpack full of Busch Light on a freshman. If you are caught, terrible consequences await you, such as taking online alcohol awareness classes. These usually consist of starting a video on your computer and hanging out in someone else’s room for half an hour. When you return, you will have to take a test on the material with questions like “What should you do if your pregnant friend is drunk and gets into a fight with her boyfriend at a party?” (Hint—don’t let her drive.) Anyway, unless you get in trouble multiple times in a single quarter, it should not be too difficult to avoid being fined or arrested.

They’re really strict about... They’re really strict about drinking on campus, which is kind of lame. It’s college, though, so plenty of it still goes on. If you’re underage, you need to... If you’re underage, you need to watch out for the ABC (plain-clothes police officers) outside of Safeway. They usually drive vans, and will run up to the car if they see someone who looks young come out with beer. Depending on how many times you... Depending on how many times you are caught and the amount of drugs you have on you, you could be turned over to SCPD. Drinking wise, they just make you write an essay or a poster, maybe pay a fine. Nothing big at all; they take the drugs more seriously than the drinking. 12345 Campus Strictness Report
