Santa Clara is known for having an especially attractive student body, though some students complain that this creates a preoccupation with physical appearance on campus. The attractiveness of the student body tends to put pressure on both guys and girls to put a fair amount of effort into their appearances, though the extent to which students respond to this pressure typically depends on the social group they associate with. 

In addition to being physically attractive, both guys and girls tend to also be athletic, smart, and motivated. While this profile seems to indicate an ideal dating pool, few students choose to formally date. Small class sizes, coed dorms, and a fairly even guy-to-girl ratio (47 to 53 percent) make for a lot of casual interaction between guys and girls. But while this setup makes it easy to get to know members of the opposite sex, it encourages a more casual "dating" culture, where more students choose to engage in random hookups than date exclusively.

Guys Are Hot

Having been rated one of the most athletic campuses, we sport some of the best looking campus guys around. We have a lot of different types, sporty, frat, nerdy chic, but overall they are toned, tanned, and ready to either party, study, or hang out.

California Girls

Before I arrived, I had heard folklore about the kind of chicks that inhabit this part of the country - and they were all true. The girls at Santa Clara University are drop dead gorgeous. During warm spring days, the campus is filled with beauties in flowing summer dresses. Not to mention, they are all concerned about staying fit and healthy so the gym is always crowded with cuties in skimpy clothing. Lots of the girls and guys on campus get into serious relationships during their freshman and sophomore year and I have heard the conversion rate is very high. Nevertheless, if you are looking for a honey hole of beautiful and intelligent girls, Santa Clara is the place to be.

The Same!

It's said that SCU has athletic, good-looking students but in my opinion everyone looks the same! Same hair styles, outfits, shoes, etc. Nothing special, and nothing unique.

Social Scene

The numerous on-campus activities, small class sizes, and vibrant dorm community allow for lots of interaction between students. Most students are outgoing and eager to meet new people, and are often seen getting meals or coffee with friends or just casually hanging out around campus.

Hookups or Relationships?

Most students choose to casually hook up with each other rather than get into exclusive long-term relationships, at least as underclassmen. While more students start to engage in long-term relationships as they get older, the majority still continues to hook up or casually date even into their senior year.

Dress Code

Both guys and girls at Santa Clara tend to dress in a way that's casual yet put-together. Guys usually wear some combination of shorts, a T-shirt, and flip-flops, both to class and parties, though some choose to occasionally substitute polos and Sperrys. Girls tend to wear nice tops, jeans, and sandals to class, with the occasional sundress during spring quarter. Party wear for girls is a whole other story, as "going out" styles range from a dressed-up version of the previous combination to barely-there dresses typical of a Vegas nightclub.
