Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Most students report feeling very safe at Santa Clara. Campus Safety patrols campus and its surrounding areas 24/7, and the Santa Clara Police Department is located right across the street, employing more than enough cops to keep the campus safe and secure. Campus Safety has also installed 30 blue-light phones around campus, which students can use to contact Campus Safety any time they feel uncomfortable walking alone. While SCU and its surrounding areas are generally pretty safe, students from other schools have been known to occasionally crash parties and start fights on weekend nights. Because the Santa Clara Police and Campus Safety are known to constantly patrol these areas, such events are usually responded to pretty quickly. The Campus Safety report in the Santa Clara newspaper provides good testimony to the low level of crime around campus. Most crime involves petty theft of bikes, valuables, and electronics, but as long as students are conscious about keeping valuables hidden, doors locked, and bikes secure, they shouldn't have any problems. Many students in the dorms use laptop locks to secure their computers, and heavy duty "U" locks for their bikes.

In terms of student health, Santa Clara does a lot to ensure the well-being of its students. In addition to a general health center, where students can go for checkups and basic medical procedures, Santa Clara has a Wellness Center, which provides information on a range of topics dealing with health, diet, and physical well-being. Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is also a good resource for students coping with homesickness or other personal issues, and it offers each student 10 free visits during their time at Santa Clara.

Campus Safety

There are little posts distributed around campus that allow you to contact an officer immediately in case you feel unsafe. Not only that, but there is patrol around every so often, and a security alert system that will notify you if there is an intruder or otherwise threatening person/group around. Police department is right around the corner too, so there is nothing to fear.

Campus Safety

The Neighborhood Surrounding Santa Clara University is extremely safe. Walking alone at night to get food, or going home from a friends house raises little concern with almost anyone you talk to. The police department is near by, and there seems to be a constant police present in the area. In addition, the schools security is always on patrol, both on and off campus. There are the occasional suspicious characters on characters, and the seldom bike theft, however the students at SCU feel a sense of security at all times, no matter what time of day it is

Extremely Safe

Almost nothing happens that is even close to danger. The cops are also one of the highest paid cops in the nation, so if anything ever does go wrong, which is doubtful, they will be able to take care of it.
