I think the resources at Santiago Canyon College vary in quality depending on what they are. The library at SCC is amazing. It is really a place that is a haven for a student that wants a quiet place to study and the selection of books, magazine, journals, etc is amazing. The science and humanities building are brand new and are really great facilities for students however the science labs definitely need updating on the inside. Unfortunately the math classrooms and a few humanities classrooms really need updating. As far as student centers are concerned there is a "student lounge" but it's honestly pretty pathetic considering there's only two tables for students to sit at. The student lounge is also not convenient to go to because it's at the top of a hill on the complete opposite side of where most of the classrooms are. The student health center is amazing and really accessible for students. They offer so services to students for little to no cost. SCC doesn't have a fitness center exclusively for students but they technically have a fitness center that is open to the public at certain times of the week for small fees. When it comes to clubs and athletics, there are only a few sports teams and a few student led clubs.

I have personally not used the Career Services Center at my school because I already have a job I got on my own however do know that the Career Center provides a lot of great information and connections for students looking for jobs.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
Overall I feel that my education at community college has been great and worth the money that my family and I have invested into it. I did not qualify for financial aid for whatever reason but because of the tuition costs at community colleges being pretty reasonable, we (my family and I) were able to find a way to cover the costs.

I am a business major and have been taking a lot of economics classes. My professors are very helpful and great at teaching their subjects. They do a great job relating the material to real life situations and not just reading from powerpoint slides.

The main reason I chose this school was because of how close it was to my home. I attended one other junior college before transferring and moving here and I am much happier at SCC. Some of the classes I took did not transfer and SCC doesn't offer as many intersession classes as other junior colleges, but they have many other courses to choose from. I am a Marine Corps Veteran and the Veterans Center is not as helpful at SCC as it is at other schools. The convenience of the school outweighs the attentiveness towards veterans at other schools.

Staff is highly trained, with excellent knowledge. Rigorous courses that are no less effective than UC's or Universities. Small campus provides students with an "high school" layout.

unique features like blackboard, never overwelming workload, registration process is simple, professor/student relationship very respectful, and peer-to-peer interaction is very social able.

My job allows me to be on the computer all day and I use what I learn in school. I get my hands on practice. the world is all about the latest technology and that's a main aspect for my major so its great to know that I can manage well with technology more than others.

I was at a different college before this one and I found it more convenient here than going the distance when I can take the same classes here. Its really nice and clean. The staff all over is really nice and welcoming. They actually want to help. I works really good with my work schedule and found all the classes I needed in time.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
I have not experienced the admissions office here. Seems helpful when I go into admissions which is right next door. The staff looks willing to help and welcoming.

Many have either full time jobs or two jobs. There's other students who aren't sure what major they are going to pursue and feel that they "have" to go to school not really because they want too. Then there's a good amount of people who really do want to be there in school. They want to transfer and graduate!

The computer network at Santiago Canyon College is up-to-date. Assignments that require a computer can be done in the labs. The computer labs are big, have all the basic and necessary programs. Also the network is reliable, I have not had a computer freeze or malfunction while using it. Students can use the printers either wirelessly or not.

Because of cut backs there are a lot less hours for resources to be open, such as the library.

I enjoy online classes because they allow me to do my work without teachers bothering me.

The counselors do a really good job in helping you decide what your major should be and to take enough classes to transfer.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
I think the tuition is very fair and you do get your moneys worth. With that being said, the cost per unit almost doubled in my two years there from the time I started to my last semester.

It is sometimes hard to get appointments but for the most part they are helpful and help you do what you need to do

So far I live in the library. Its newly redone and amazing. Most people don't know a lot about what they put into it but my brother worked there as an electrician and they invested quite a bit of money to insure it would be a great environment for us students. I wish the cafe and things opened earlier though!

Over all the academic experience at SCC is very average, it is a junior college so it is no UCLA or USC. It feels like high school round two to be honest. Your professors do not seem like professors at a University because all of my professors did not allow drinks besides water bottles so this means no starbucks or sodas, also no food. Only a couple of my professors have had zero rules. Some of my professors did not allow you to use the restroom until break unless it was an emergency and even then they told you not to come back to class. So welcome back to high school. Registration is a piece of cake if you are lucky enough to get all your classes that you need, if you do not then it is an absolute nightmare and it sets you behind schedule. We do have a tutoring center for math, english and science but I have not found those very helpful in past experience. Academically this school is just average, nothing fun or special about it, you just come to attend your classes for the day and then leave as fast as you can.

Because I am at a junior college we do not have the main core upper division classes for my major. The last few years I have just been completing my general ed courses to be able to transfer this fall 2013 to a university. The workload at Santiago Canyon College varies depending on your professor, some of my professors had zero homework and it was strictly exams and other professors gave out excessive amounts of homework. The campus itself is actually really nice and well kept, especially the new buildings. The biggest downfall is no full cafeteria, we have two "mini marts" that offer only junk food for the most part so if you have a lunch break you have to go drive somewhere to get a good lunch.

Well considering that our library and computer lab closes extremely early, I cannot make it in time after classes and work to have access to the library computers, printers and computer labs. I assume that for the students who are able to take advantage of the library facility and what it has to offer have had great experiences but I cannot really say just because the only time I can use the library is at night and by then it is closed.

This campus feels like a high school campus 100% because of the limited resources. Our campus library is closed on the weekends including majority of fridays. On the weekdays our library closes at 7p.m. so as a student I cannot have access to the library after i get out of my classes and after work. Our athletic facilities just got finished a few months ago with a brand new gym but besides that all we have is a soft ball field. Campus activities are slim to none, as a full time student I never hear of any student involved activities. This campus has the capability to be a great junior college but unfortunately it is not.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
