Above all other things, students get busted for liquor violations such as underage drinking, supplying drinks to underage students, and having open containers filled with alcohol in public. Because of a sudden increase in students taking late-night trips to Lawrence Hospital for alcohol poisoning, the College has upped the security presence at big events. This irks some students, but most agree that the increase in campus strictness is not without just cause. For whatever reason, kids are being more reckless with drugs and alcohol than they used to be, and the College has been forced to respond aggressively.
Of course, if it’s late at night and you and your buddies want to avoid attention from security, then chances are you’ll be OK as long as you’re not careless. Keep the volume down and stay on good terms with your neighbors. There is a tradition of noisy, overly-crowded house parties getting shut down by security, but the College is determined to keep the campus safe and the students protected; the cost of that may be the sporadic loss of a good time.
