Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

With the exception of the Metro-North train to NYC, public transportation is seldom used by students. The Westchester County Bee-Line bus system has stops throughout campus, but most students ignore it. Everything is within walking distance; if students need to travel farther, they catch a ride from a friend who has a car. The scenic Bronxville back roads make a walk to the shopping district more fun than the actual shopping—so why pay for the bus? When traveling to and from the airport, call up the various taxi and shuttle services a week beforehand and ask for student rates. Amtrak trains arrive at the New Rochelle and Yonkers train stations, both of which are a 15-minute drive from campus.

Want to go NYC? Who doesn’t? Take advantage of the College’s Met Van service on the weekends for a free ride to and from the city. Otherwise, you’ll be paying upward of $15 for a round trip on the Metro-North line to and from Grand Central Station. A college van will drive you to and from the Bronxville train station, but this service isn’t recommended if you’re in a rush.

Pretty Decent.

The transportation options here are alright, they aren't as bad as some really out of touch schools with the times but sometimes it can get a little annoying waiting for the bus.

Needs More/Better Shuttles

Shuttle coverage is shoddy because the student drivers are lazy or don't show up for work. Even when it's security guards driving, the coverage doesn't improve much. Also the only regular shuttles off campus are a nightly shuttle to the train station (never during the day, even on move-in or move-out days) and a once-a-week shuttle to NYC.

Surprisingly Efficient

Good shuttle service, actually rather more than what we'd need.

Met Van Service

On Saturdays and Sundays, the College Met Van takes students to and from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. It makes two morning deliveries and two evening pick-ups. Make sure you sign up a week ahead of time at Student Affairs in MacCracken; if your name isn’t on the list for this very popular service, you won’t get a ride.
