Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

From the academics to the social life, Savannah State University is nothing but great. But the college experience is ultimately what you make of it. SSU's historic value is what surprises students the most. The oldest building on campus, Hill Hall, has survived fire. In addition, everyone is so friendly and family oriented, always willing to lend a helping hand. Many things make the school unique, including Felix Alexis Circle, which hosts the Greek "Divine Nine" fraternities and sororities. Many other schools have Greek houses, but SSU has Greek "plots."

The student-to-teacher ratio provides students with one-on-one assistance from teachers, where you're more than just a number. In addition, despite these smaller numbers, students still come together to make a difference. Ultimately, the student orientation leaders (SOLs) and tiger ambassadors (TAs) smoothen the transition from high school to college, and enlighten prospective students about SSU. Both organizations allow upcoming freshmen to feel right at home and welcomed. SSU prepares students to have an open mind, and to network appropriately because it's not what you know—it's who you know.
