Even though Scripps is an all girl school, there are still guys all over campus in the dining hall, seal court, at the field house/pool, and the coffee shop. The social scene is amazingggg. There is no greek life except for a couple of fraternities, but it is not necessary. There is a party Tuesday-Saturday around the 5Cs. It is very much a work hard, play hard environment. I strongly recommend coming here! It is a great school for academics as well. There are plenty of activities to do on campus and on other schools campuses. The dorms are beautiful, our pool is filled with salt water and our food is amazing. We can eat at all the 5C dining halls. I never want to leave

Pretty Much Loaded

One thing that might seem like common sense is overlooked by a lot of Scrippsies and comes as a surprise to them when they're finally here (or at least it did for me). Almost everyone is loaded! I mean, you kind of have to have money to come here, but you can tell if you look for it. People wear expensive clothes, ride really nice bikes/drive nice cars, and almost ALL have iPhones. My recommendation? Buy a really cool, interesting case for yours, because chances are someone'll have the same one as you!

You Don't Have to Be a Femi-Nazi to Go Here.

Don't let the prospect of feminist culture scare you away. Not only is it probably less pervasive than you might think, you may find yourself, like I did, participating in more pro-feminist activities than you expected-- and really enjoying it!

Traditions
  • Afternoon Tea: Once a week during the academic year, Scripps holds afternoon tea, at which time students gather for a snack and some punch or tea. This tradition is a break for students and a good time for meeting new people, as well as catching up with old friends.
  • Candlelight Dinners: Candlelight dinners are held throughout the year for students to come together for a nice dinner.
  • The Dean’s House: Events such as dessert and other gatherings at the Dean’s home make for an intimate college experience. Groups of freshmen walk to the Dean’s house every year for a favorite orientation event full of delicious desserts to please every taste bud. Also, each year, all students are invited to spend Thanksgiving at the Dean’s house so that each and every student will be able to celebrate the holidays, and in this case, with extended family.
  • Matriculation: Matriculation is a beautiful tradition that freshmen go through when they first begin college and go through again during graduation. The ceremony symbolizes and celebrates the right of passage and journey that the students go through.
  • Student-Faculty Dinners: Student-faculty dinners are a special tradition unique to a small school, where professors and students can sit together outside of the classroom and talk and enjoy a meal.
Urban Legends There is a legend that there was a student who died in the Toll Hall browsing room and now is a ghost in the dorm.
