Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The choices for dining off campus are not very plentiful in Claremont. The Village is the closest place to campus, but it is relatively expensive for the average college student. The selection is usually fine dining or fast food with very little in between. There are some nearby fast-food chains, but again, the variety is very limited and the choices are even more narrowed during late-night hours. During the day, most off-campus dining is a considerable distance away from the colleges, and the constraints of time and money detour students from making the effort to leave campus. Furthermore, a lot of the choices for off-campus dining require transportation, which can be an issue, in addition to the hassle of parking. The food options on campus are relatively good, so students often choose to eat at the dining halls, use flex dollars at the coffee and snack shops, or buy groceries from the local markets and cook.

Many of the surrounding cities provide wide ranges of food from all corners of the world, and LA boasts a massive list of dining choices, but all of these options require transportation and time, so the majority of students eat on campus and dine outside at night or on the weekends.

Good Options, Sometime Expensive

I don't go out to eat often, but there are a variety of pretty good restaurants in the area. No chains really, but many really good bakeries, cafes, and full restaurants are within walking distance from the campus. The Claremont village has a variety with everything from bagel shops to thai to fancy sit-down Italian restaurants. Some have a little bit of a student discount, but not much. The town of Claremont is pretty upper-middle class, so most of the restaurants reflect that with about $10 a plate as the average. My favorite though is Bua Thai, because it has enormous portions of delicious food!

Good, but not Important

The off- campus dining in Claremont is great. The village has a range of options such as thai food, diners, little mexican places, vegan places, and cafes. Plus in n out is close and many places deliver and take Claremont Clash.

Although there are many options closeby, the dining options at the 5-Cs are superb and the dining halls always have a variety of options.

Claremont Villiage

I don't know why, but it seems like every non-chain restaurant in the Claremont Village is amazing. Everything from vegan food to thai food is amazing and I can't get enough of it.
