College Prowler Take

The choices for dining off campus are not very plentiful in Claremont. The Village is the closest place to campus, but it is relatively expensive for the average college student. The selection is usually fine dining or fast food with very little in between. There are some nearby fast-food chains, but again, the variety is very limited and the choices are even more narrowed during late-night hours. During the day, most off-campus dining is a considerable distance away from the colleges, and the constraints of time and money detour students from making the effort to leave campus. Furthermore, a lot of the choices for off-campus dining require transportation, which can be an issue, in addition to the hassle of parking. The food options on campus are relatively good, so students often choose to eat at the dining halls, use flex dollars at the coffee and snack shops, or buy groceries from the local markets and cook.

Many of the surrounding cities provide wide ranges of food from all corners of the world, and LA boasts a massive list of dining choices, but all of these options require transportation and time, so the majority of students eat on campus and dine outside at night or on the weekends.

The Village has a few cheap places and a bunch of really expensive ones. It's a good idea to find yourself a rich boyfriend if you want to eat out nearby more than every once in a while.

There’s an old fashioned candy store/soda fountain that mixes their own shakes and malts in addition to having chocolate dipped bananas.
