Willing to Help Out

Even though the school is really really expensive, the Office of Financial Aid is there to help you out- as long as you get your forms in on time, they are willing to work with you and your family to try and get you to come- they're a welcoming community that doesn't just want to take your money. The phone number for the Office of Financial Aid leads you to a really nice lady who is always there and willing to help.

Tough Luck Getting Money

Scripps awarded me NO need-based financial aid. Given, my parents have sufficient salaries, but they are also paying for three college tuitions at once, and Scripps costs over $50,000 a year. Also, Scripps only awards a handful of merit scholarships and the competition for these few scholarships is tight. Since I really wanted to go to Scripps, I contacted the financial aid office, asking if they could give me any money, and their only suggestion was to take out loans. The financial aid office is not very helpful if you don't demonstrate enough need.

Generous

Scripps costs a lot of money, there's no denying it. However, I feel like their aid packages definitely puts them within reach for a lot of students. I'm satisfied with my aid - yeah it could have been larger but then that money wouldn't have gone to someone for whom it makes the difference between attendance and not.
