Did You Know?
  • Every summer Seattle celebrates all things food in the Bite of Seattle, in which local restaurant owners and chefs provide free samples, full meals, and information on how to become a better chef yourself. And though not exclusively dedicated to food, the Bumbershoot festival, which runs on Labor Day Weekend, regularly features a bevy of offerings from Seattle eateries.
  • Possibly the best place in the city to shop for groceries is the Pike Place Market. Though a bit pricey, the Market features succulent vegetables, delicious fruits, meat and seafood of all sorts, and fresh baked bread. And since every SU dorm has at least one kitchen, it's no challenge for students to head down to pick up their favorite items to bring back and cook for their friends.
  • The planet's largest coffee chain, Starbucks, got its original start in Seattle's own Pike Place Market back in 1971.
