Shawnee does a lot to help with transferring to a university or into the workforce. Unfortunately, I have found that universities do not always have the same level of helpfulness, so I am grateful for what SCC offers.

Online Vs. Traditional – The workload seems to be much lighter in online classes, yet the availability to learn is at the same level as in a traditional class. Peer-to-peer interaction is limited. Althought professor-to-student interaction could be limited, it rarely is, and I have found that I have connected better with most of my online teachers than my teachers for traditional classes.

I think its good for people to recive financil aid because alot of people don't have money to pay for there books and other things you need for college.

I have enjoyed my time at SCC. The theatre department has been very influential in my life, and the escrow and dual-credit courses that I took in high school were tremendously helpful. I am extremely grateful for my full-ride scholarship that I currently have, and I am forever indebted to the services that I have received at SCC.

Dual Credit and Escrow Classes – While I was in high school, I was able to take many college level classes in my high school by earning dual credit. That is, I earned credit at both the high school and college levels. During the summers, I took escrow classes on my own through Shawnee Community College. All of these classes enabled me to be far ahead of many others who are my age, and I will be receiving my Associate's Degree one year after high school rather than two which is the norm.

Class Registration Processs – When registering for classes it feels as if you are on your own. The counselors do not know what they are doing and do not care. There are only a couple who do care about you. The rest of them make you spend more time at Shawnee and screw you over. They do not help you transfer.

I would not choose SCC because the advisors do not help you very well. There are many classes that do not transfer, there are even programs that do not transfer over and the advisors put you in these nontransferable classes and make you waste your time and money. It feels like you are on your own because the counselors are so bad. There were a few teachers and a couple of advisors that actually helped me. They took away many of the athletics like dance which I participated in. Dance was my favorite part.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
