Shenandoah University is in the middle of a small town called Winchester, Va. Although it's not located in a huge city, there are still many activities to do. The Apple Blossom Festival is one of them. Apple Blossom is a major event that happens every year, only in Winchester. All of the students have off from school, and there's a party all weekend—parades, circuses, fireworks, food, and music. The Apple Blossom movie theater is also a hangout for students.
There isn't too much nightlife at SU, especially during the week. However, SU holds free student bowling at Northside Lanes; these are usually held the first Thursday night of every month and almost every student is there from campus! There are other activities in Old Town Winchester, too. There is a ton of shopping and places to eat, not to mention the scenery is fantastic. When most students get bored on campus, this is where they most likely end up. All around SU, there are small, quiet neighborhoods, so there is not much local crime; all in all, walking around Winchester is completely safe.
