There are very strict underage alcohol consumption and drug use (they will kick you out of school if your caught) but many kids find ways around the rules. There is a place in town that kids can get cheap drinks and they don't ask for ID.

The dining hall is open at 7:30am to 8:00pm and serves breakfast/brunch until 10:30am. The dining hall always has a fresh salad bar and fruit selection and different stations to eat from all day long. The rams den has has a sandwich station and then a sushi and fast food station that are very good.

The cost for campus provided transportation is incorporated in your tuition. The bus runs every half hour until 10:30pm.

There are many commuters who attend school, so the parking spots get taken very quickly and if you are not a commuter and park in one of the lots only for commuters the parking tickets start at $40. If you live on campus, you don't need a car for getting around campus, but you will if you want to travel anywhere else.

To get an extra $1,000 from Shepherd, you have to apply for financial aid and FAFSA at the very beginning of the year.

Health & Safety:
I am the type of person who is not going to walk across campus alone. even if I know the campus is safe. However, in the event of an emergency, there are blue lights spaced across campus. You can press/call and a campus police officer will be there in a matter of minutes. The number for campus security is posted everywhere around campus.

There are a few decent places. A sweetshop close by has some pretty good prices. Some of the other restuarants have deal of the day sort of things.

Not into the whole "night scene" but I have been to a few places. They weren't bad, drink prices weren't horrible.

I am a commuter so I don't deal with the campus travel as much. However, we have a campus bus which is very convenient , especially on inclement weather days.

The school overall, is okay. I think it's ridiculous that the school is trying to make it possible for the students to graduate in 4 years. I was a transfer student, and it has taken me 3 years to graduate, when I was told it would have only taken me 2. I think what saved me, from transfering out of Shepherd, was the ability to switch majors and still be able to do what I would like to do. If I had to choose again, I probably wouldn't come back to this university. THere are good aspects and there bad aspects of this school overall, it's alright, but I just wouldn't come to the college again.

The twon has many places to shop and eat. I haven't really explored the town much but the main attraction that I've noticed is the easy ability to get the C&O Canal path.

I don't normally eat off campus, but I do there are multiple different places that I can choose from. Most of the time, the prices are descent for a college student. There are places that do offer discounts.

There are a variety of computer labs in basically all of the buildings on campus. The wireless internet can be dodgy and a pain to get to work at times.

I had problems when I was doing some summer classes. I wasn't informed that I was supposed to sign up for a separate loan just for Summer Classes. When I was checking on the status of these loans, I had to jump through hoops trying to figure out why they weren't being processed. It took almost three weeks, multiple different calls to the University, Direct Loans and Fed Loans, just to find out that everything was okay on the loan providers side but there was a problem when it was being processed at the university.

There is a lot of support of the sports team. The biggest supporting I see is for the football team.

I'm indifferent of this. I'm not apart of any greek life and I don't really know anyone who is apart of the greek life.

I don't live in the dorms. So I don't know how the social lives go on when it comes to the policies.

Health & Safety:
The campus security, is okay. There are safety phones located through out the campus. The one down fall of the campus is the new pedestrian tunnel they added. It was a smart idea, so students wouldn't have to cross a very busy road, but at the same time, a lot of girls don't feel safe walking under it because it's not very well lit and there are easy places for people to hide if they were trying to do something.

I recently switched from an Elementary Education with an early childhood endorsement to Family and Consumer Sciences with a minor in education. It was the best switch that I ever made. The Family and Consumer Sciences department, has been nothing but wonderful and welcoming. They were able to make sure I graduated in a timely matter compared to the education department.

I think since switching majors, I have witnessed a change in professors. The professors have been friendly and have been easy to get along with. The advising professors have been helpful, the registration process signing up for the courses is easy. The workload, varies depending on the classes.

I don't live on campus so I don't exactly know about the drug scene on campus.

The campus dining situation is good. They offer a wide variety of things, and just recently added sushi and a tex-mex bar.

Guys & Girls:
The typical students are basically small town. The population of students is diverse and the college offers many clubs/programs to help meet the diversity.

There are two sides of campus. The main side of campus barely has any parking for commuters. As a student, you have to get to the main side of campus at like 7AM just to get a spot, other wise you have to park on the other side of campus and walk very long.
College Student 2013-11-18T08:05:40Z
There's a few bars, but I'm not quite sure how they are since I've never been to them. They are just typical small town bars though.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
