If you want right around the campus of Shepherd it gets pretty expensive, not much parking and the housing is kind of old. But if you go a little further away from campus, like most people, the housing is a little nicer, they are pretty available from year to year and the parking is not bad.

Shepherdstown is very small and quaint and while it sometimes is a process to find off-campus housing, it isn't impossible. If live with more than one person, it ends up being cheaper than staying on campus. If you factor in groceries instead of campus food, it's definitely cheaper. Landlords in Shepherdstown tend to be easy to get along with as long as you get rent to them on time, it's pretty self-explanatory and similar to any place you go looking for an apartment. Parking for in-town residents is good. Safety in Shepherdstown is not something to worry about but just stick with another person if you're going out. There's hardly in break-ins or robberies in this small town.

Finding off campus housing that is affordable and nearby is difficult. Landlords in the area are infamous for being difficult to deal with and unreliable. Shepherdstown's population also tends to discriminate against students.

Shepherdstown is a very small community so everything is in walking distance including grocery store and restaurants. I am an adult student with no need to rent and so I dont know if the pricing is adaquate. I do spend a lot of time in Shepherdstown and know that there is plenty of parking and the whole town is a very safe place to live.

Hard to Find – I have just started looking for an apartment in or close to Shepherd. The apartments in town are usually above a store and are expensive! But there are also houses that are rented out, that have 2 or more bedrooms and those are nice. As far as finding the apartments and what is for rent I find that difficult but I'm still learning the area and what help is offered through Shepherd University.
