I give it this rating because I have yet to make use of this in my school but based on previous experiences with what has been available. I believe that this is the score it would receive.

Getting signed into the network and getting it started can be a pain and sometimes it crashes due to user overload but once you get on and if its working it does its job and it does it at blazing speed.

The campus aesthetics are beautiful in some areas and then just downright unkept and broken down in others. Its easy to tell where the grounds keeping staff spends there time and what they do and don't like to work on.
College Junior 2013-11-03T18:20:26Z
The campus is rather small and lacks that university feel but has what you need to get done even though you can tell there wasn't much a budget for the aesthetics.

So far it has been easy for me to balance School, Work, Social/free-time, and a varsity level collegial sport.
College Junior 2013-11-03T18:16:22Z
So far I have only taken a hybrid course of online and classwork and its been very enjoyable so far. I get to learn from the professor if I don't understand something in the online portion. This balance makes it easy to succeed in this class.

The student body mainly consists of foreign exchange students and half the time I hear people speaking in languages I dont know and so its hard to meet new people when theres no common ground.
College Junior 2013-11-03T18:11:54Z
Overall I would say that its nice to not have to pay an arm and a leg for college but you also notice some of the kinds of people that also go there. The classes are great so far but it doesn't have the meet new people feel that most universities have which is disappointing for a recent high school graduate.

I'm only in my first quarter but so far I have yet to have a bad experience with any of my teachers or in any of my classes. However getting set in the classes appropriate for me was a somewhat difficult and frustrating process.

For a Community college there is a surprising amount of variety in the sheer volume of classes that are offered and I'm excited to explore them and learn.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
While I did not receive any financial aid the cost of school at my school while compared to a regular 4 year university is drastically lower. I would say that it is about one tenth of the cost of the cheapest university in my state. Having said this you do get what you pay for and you can see the differences but for the price Im willing to overlook these and focus solely on my schoolwork.

I chose this school because of its close proximity to my house, the decent tuition, and my prior attendance during my enrollment in the Running Start program. The instructors were knowledgable and friendly, the office for student accommodations were very helpful, and I enjoyed the campus and the student resources. As it's a small community college, there sometimes aren't enough teachers to ensure a wide variety of class times offered for every course, but I have had almost no trouble scheduling classes to work around my schedule and I have never had conflicting class times. All of my credits transferred from my time in Running Start and my high school classes that offered college credit. I'm currently working towards a Direct Transfer degree to a four-year school, and my advisor (a math instructor of my choice) was very helpful planning future classes that fulfill my transfer degree an advising me which instructors I would learn best from based on my learning style. Every faculty member I've interacted with have been very accommodating when I've come to them with a problem.

The campus resources are very spread apart and the very campus is beautiful, especially in the Spring.

There are a variety and vast majority of recourses available at this school, I use them all very frequently.
College Junior 2013-09-25T07:19:07Z
The student body is diverse, most the students that I interact with pertains to those trying to get into the same program.

The computer lab is fine, the wireless network is very reliable, printing is simple and easy.

On our student body website, there is current job postings and advice from graduates of how to get jobs. Also in the last quarter of the program they help us to develop our resumes to prepare us for getting careers upon graduation.

We have an awesome student body in our nursing program called SCAANS. They put on a welcome for new coming students and provide new students with a "buddy" in a further quarter to be a mentor to help get through the first quarter. I stayed in contact with my buddy and even went to their graduation to support them. Even after graduation I speak to him about how studying for the NCLEX was for him and how it was to try to find a job. This student body provides support to the students by creating a student network that we can learn to rely on each other and help each other grow and learn.

I work very hard to get good grades in school. I am typically a A student however this program constantly challenges me. I typically get an 85% in all classes which in this program is a 3.0. There is a large mix of types of people in our group, male/female, older/younger, people with bachelors degrees and high school diplomas, and a variety of backgrounds. It is nice to have such a large variety because everyone brings something unique to the table and challenges the way we think about things.

With all the adults returning to college to get degrees or certificates due to the DEPRESSION the USA is STILL in - there should be 1 or 2 representatives on the Student Body of someone who is over 40 years of age, has life experiences to share with the other students. It would also be nice if there were more diversity on the Student Body. Currently over 75% of our Student Body are of Asian descent.
Many of the worker retraining students are over 40, white, were middle class but are now experiencing poverty for the first time in their lives.

The Campus Resources are amazing. We have comfortable and beautiful leather chairs at the computers in the library and the computer lab. The Campus is beautiful. The artwork around campus makes you smile or laugh.
Worksource offices and staff are wonderful. The cafeteria is pretty good but it could be so much better and more affordable. The game room is a huge waste of resources and funding and those funds could have been utilized towards housing or feeding/clothing for a student.
The parking sucks but SCC has found a way to work through it with an extra parking lot and shuttle that runs regularly. There are way too many teachers and staff that don't utilize our transit system.
College Senior 2013-09-13T07:26:36Z
Tuition & Financial Aid:
The tuition at SCC is outrageous, $1200-$1400 a quarter. The Financial Aid office takes 17 weeks to process your application and they certainly PUSH those Direct Loans and Private Loans on you and your family!

I was really excited to take several online classes - but the students from other countries do not write well and it gets quite annoying when you have to 'grade' their paper. If you are unable to pass an English 101 class then you should be in the ESL class learning to write correctly.
There really should be classes with age groupings, if you have 20 people over the age of 35 - they are going to have a different life outlook/more life experience than 18-22 year old girls and boys.
College Senior 2013-09-13T07:09:57Z
I really have to work very hard to have a professor grant me an accommodation of any kind. I am signed up with Special Services and that office is amazing. But to have the professor follow thru with any of it is quite the hassle.
College Sophomore 2013-08-30T12:05:56Z
It's more like a "Meh" when it comes to unique part because what I feel about SCC is just somewhat like other colleges, not very unique. There are oppotunities to apply for jobs in the student governments or as staff assistants also which I find interesting because it's different from where I came from.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
