The main campus has a very well developed athletic program.

The courses offered are applicable to my program and taught by well qualified instructors.

My program is centered around a team learning environment which is very helpful when balancing work and school.

The financial aid process was very smooth. For my situation I had to use a point of contact from the main campus which is 2hours away but once I made contact the process went very fast.

Guys & Girls:
The people on campus all have the same goal; reaching for better. Most people are well dressed and have plenty of life experience to offer.

the atmosphere is quite. There are a few places to go around campus to socialize. Most of those places are located a few exits away on Camp Creek.

In my field, I have yet to start my student teaching, but I have had experience with observations/practicums. In my honest opinion, the experiences were nice and the professors were welecoming in helping me with whatever I needed done. The challenging part was finding the time with my busy schedule of working and full-time student that made it hard for me to complete. It would also be nice if we could receive payment, but its part of the process. I am midway.

When i comes to the profesional side of Shorter, I would say that they are decent, but could be little better. I did receive emails and updates on topics and classes on some things, but other important information they left out. I should have been given an exact date to when my financial assistanc would be depleted, and more support from the advisors. I also feel that adding two extra classes to our schedule was not appropriate and should not have happened to a cohort already enrolled in the institution.

I am fairly happy about my choice with Shorter. I have such high hopes about my future. Shorter University pushes you to the next level. They make sure you are prepared for your career field. When I go out into the field of childhood education, I will have completed all my gace tests and exams and observations/practicums that will allow me to obtain a job in any public school. I believe that is the best part. I have developed good communication skills due to tons of presentations, as well as the confidence to accept nothing less than expected.

I really enjoy the benefits of learning so much from my class. I graduated wit my associates from another school, but the work and growth I received is nothing compared to Shorter. I get overwhelmed with the extensive amount of work and presentations, but i feel like I can go into a class and stat teaching now! The lessons are designed for you to really think and apply good ethic to make a good grade. They do not let you slack off.

The program is made to work with individuals that work full time and have a family. It is set up to help you succeed and not fail.

the Finacial Aid process was not the best, there were areas on line that were not clear. I beleive that all the first time students applying for aid should have to come into the Finacial Aid office.

Mature and about their business. They look like adults who probably have full time jobs and families. Not so much the party type.

Very Diverse – The people that attend the college are from all walks of life. There is a very high percentage of working class adults. Many people attend this college because of the adult atomsphere.

Campus near the major airport and approx. 5 minutes from Atlanta, great places to dine.

Atmospere Near Shorter - Riverdale – The area near Shorter - Riverdale is low income. It is one the most positive landmarks in the neighborhood. I work approx. 45 min from home so on my school nights it is great to be able to attend class and be closer to home afterwards. I plan to move from the area after I graduate but I do plan to teach in the area. Like most low income areas you have the regular store for survival and living and you also have the ghetto facilities that bring the property value down. The area is just right for those who want to attend Shorter - Professional Studies and make the community a better place while getting a great education to become a better person. The area is near the major airport and close to the interstate about 5 minutes from down town Atlanta, which is great.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
