There Isn't One – Some girls stick together like thee is, but there aren't any

Guys & Girls:
They're All the Same – The LGBT community sticks together, as well as the Crew team, the nursing students, student gov, and the black student organization. As a freshman, everyone is welcoming and willing to help you out, for the first semester. After that, to each his own. Most students are either preppy, ugg-wearing girls from Maine, or they are uniquely different or eclectic.

Sort of Diverse – At Simmons, they teach students that diversity is more than skin deep. I think that's a great idea because based on race, the school is predominantly white, based on sexual orientation, they are more people who would describe themselves as part of the LGBTQA community. If we didn't discuss diversity on a deeper level, no one would notice it.

I really like all the professors I have had, which is the only reason I'm giving Simmons a B+. The course options are limited, and I feel like the options are becoming fewer and fewer, and they are letting go of a lot of teachers. This semester it was almost impossible for me to create a good schedule because of all the conflicting times and lack of courses offered in my major.

It's New England – The weather is typical New England, but its a bit warmer directly in the city, so not quite as much snow and spring and summer are a bit warmer, and autumn comes a tad later.

It's Food, Usually. I really enjoy some aspects of Simmons, but the dining is not one of them. I feel as if they have enough recipes to cycle through a couple weeks, and thats it. So after a about a month you've basically had it all. BUT the cooks are amazing people, they're really wonderful people if you get to know them some.

Not Great – I have not had a good experience here. People are not accepting in the right ways and there is not enough freedom to become independent. The majority of teachers are not great. I intend on transferring.

You get caught for anything and everything. If you even move, they will find a way to ruin your life.

MIT Frats Usually Have Parties – There are usually parties at MIT frats. Lots of girls get date raped. I only suggest going here if you are looking for a crazy one night stand.

Nothing to Write Home About. The dorms at Simmons College are far from glamorous, but they serve their purpose and are in a safe, gated and clean environment footsteps away from Fenway Park. The freshman dorms are small, and a little congested but there are much better options for upperclassmen. Unlike most urban schools, each dorm looks out onto a large grassy common where many students study, play frisbee and build snowmen.

There are frats and sororities around from other schools and around the city, but Simmons has none. We're essentially a giant sorority anyway, being a women's college.
Recent Alumnus 2009-02-21T23:34:36Z
There is no Greek life at Simmons. It's already like one big sorority, in a good way.

The students at Simmons College are, for the most part, too driven to be involved in drugs. Ritalin or Adderall are probably the most common drugs, but a small amount of people are also known to smoke pot in their rooms.
Recent Alumnus 2009-02-21T00:57:34Z
Some people sneak off to the park nearby to smoke at night, but that's about it. I'm sure there are girls into harder drugs here, but it definitely isn't big.

Simmons is basically one huge sorority, but we don't have any actual ones. The frats of other colleges in the areas-MIT, Harvard, BU, Northeastern-are where most girls go for parties their first year.
Recent Alumnus 2009-02-21T00:47:23Z
Simmons is on the list of most sober schools in the country, but this just means we find other places to party-this is Boston. As long as you aren't obviously partying in your room or come back from a party puking in the halls, no one will really say anything.

I don't know anyone who does drugs at Simmons, aside from a few friends who smoke pot here and there. Certainly people drink-binge drink, especially-but if you don't drink, you can definitely find things to do. I didn't drink until sophomore year and never felt excluded. People smoke cigarettes but not a majority, and it's usually just a college phase anyway. I'm sure people do harder stuff, I just don't know anyone. Also, I'm an RA, so they probably hide everything from me more than most people!
Recent Alumnus 2009-02-20T20:59:27Z
They like to pretend they're pretty hardcore about it, but I don't think people ever really get caught. And if you do, I think you just get written up.
Recent Alumnus 2009-02-20T20:58:39Z
There is no Greek life because it's an all-girls school, so we don't need sororities because we're supposed to be "all sisters."
Recent Alumnus 2009-02-20T20:22:07Z
The drug scene at Simmons is basically nonexistent. There are a few girls who smoke cigarettes in designated areas outside, but I have never heard of any illegal drug activity on campus. If people do drugs, it is off campus.

There are rarely parties on campus, but MIT is down the street, as is WIT and other schools. Get on Facebook before you get to school and add some of the social chairs of frats at MIT and other schools. It's really nice to not have the nightlife on campus, and you'll come to appreciate it.

Guys & Girls:
There are no guys :-O big shocker there! Actually for some it is, but anyways! You can easily find guys at MIT/WIT. Add some on Facebook before you head out to school---find some of the frats at MIT and add some of their social chairs on Facebook, and you'll end up getting invited to their parties!
Recent Alumnus 2009-02-20T19:30:35Z
Our Greek life is basically through other schools. MIT's frat parties are fantastic-free, fun, good music, safe, reliable, and you get to meet really smart men!

There are so many good restaurants off campus that www.campusfood.com will be your best friend as far as delivery food goes. There are some awesome restaurants right in our front yard-Longhorn, Hidyan, Brown Sugar, Indian Samraat, Chipotle, and the list continues. There are really good cheap places and other nice ones, such as Petit Robert. All these places are definitely within walking distance.

I love the restaurants in Boston-there are tons of options. The restaurants in the Simmons area aren't the greatest, but the really epic ones are just a short cab or T ride away. I love Chili Duck, Cafe Jaffa, Sonsie, Island Hopper, Thai Basil, and tons of others.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
