Simmons is growing, and because of that, improvements are rapidly being made to campus facilities. Future plans continue to please alumnae and students. A $250-million-rebuilding program has modernized the classic Main College Building, with a new College center, conference center, computer kiosks, and the updating of classrooms. The School of Management building recently opened, as well. Current students are glad to have the walkways free again and to not have to listen to the sounds of drills during lectures. The One Palace Road building is home to a high-tech media resource center, the Career Education Center, Writing Center, various offices, and many comfortable classrooms. Underground parking is available for staff under this highly modern addition.
Aesthetically, the Main Campus Building has maintained its classic architecture—the brass weathervane still acts as a beacon and object of pride. The main staircase is worn in the places generations of women have ascended. The small scale of the campus ensures no building can be forgotten, and grounds and cleaning staff work to keep the buildings clean and the grass green. The Holmes sports center houses many stress-releasing pieces of sports equipment, and students come here to seek refuge on the treadmill, in the swimming pool, or on the track.
