It's Very Friendly

Nearly all the teachers are approachable and friendly. Every Friday, the Computer Science teachers all travel to the Dorm Campus dining hall and have lunch with the students, all of whom are welcome to come and eat in a non-educational setting.

Simmons College- Not for Everyone

The food is awful, the fact that there are no guys around is unbearable at times. The girls are nice, but it is a small school and certainly not for everyone.

Facts

Traditions
  • Floor Snacks: Floormates in each resident hall gather in their lounge or even in the hallway to catch up with their neighbors and resident advisors.
  • Senior Week: Celebrating graduation, seniors begin the festivities a week before commencement with a series of events such as a formal dinner or formal dance.
  • Simmons Cup: Throughout the academic year, dormitories compete to accumulate Simmons Cup points. This annual field day event pits each residence dorm against the other in a day of outdoor events. Events have included a tug of war, pie eating, and a scavenger hunt.
  • Strawberry Breakfast and May Day: Every May 1, students from the sophomore class wake up seniors at the crack of dawn by banging pots and pans. The day continues with a maypole dance, tree planting, and a breakfast with strawberry offerings. A faculty member is asked to address the class with words of wisdom.
  • Student Faculty Dinner: Seniors anxiously await the annual Senior Faculty Dinner. Dressed up, seniors dine with their professors in celebrationof their graduation. It is a chance for students to enjoy a catered dinner with each other and toast their faculty. Departmental honors are announced during dinner, while the wine flows freely.
  • Tea : There is a lot of tea brewing on campus. Resident students meet each month or once a week to socialize and eat. The honors program hosts monthly teas for its members to hear guest speakers and keep students up-to-date on information. Many student groups host small lectures while serving tea.
  • Winter Wonderland: Before students leave for winter break, Bartol dining hall is revamped for a community feast. Faculty and students fill the dining hall tables, as the College president cuts the ham. The residence halls are decorated with lights and ribbons by their hall councils to complete the winter wonderland feeling.
