Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Freshman waistlines beware: While the quality of on-campus dining is debatable, the Boston area provides a wide variety of cuisine suitable for any taste. The diversity of Boston brings with it a range of Latin, Asian, Italian, and fusion foods. There is something for everyone—especially if you are willing to experiment. It is often very difficult to decide where to go. The unique Little Italy area of the North End provides the perfect date spot, while Chinatown provides authentic Chinese food. Peterborough Street, also known as “restaurant row,” is close to the College, although it recently suffered a fire and lost several restaurants. For a classic taste of the familiar, there is a Burger King, Longhorn’s, a Subway, and a McDonald’s nearby. In the food court of the Longwood Towers, you will find other food chains, as well.

During the treacherous winter, Ankara and Hidyan Café become Simmons students’ favorites. Both restaurants offer late-night delivery and menus with a range of sandwiches, pizza, and salads. It is not rare to see the same delivery guy several times a night. Frozen yogurt (fro-yo) is a favorite for study groups, with add-ins like Snickers, Heath, or the more exotic avocado. The prices at restaurants reflect both the upscale culture of the city, as well as a willingness to adapt to a college student’s budget.
