There are frats and sororities...
There are frats and sororities around from other schools and around the city, but Simmons has none. We're essentially a giant sorority anyway, being a women's college.

The students at Simmons College...
The students at Simmons College are, for the most part, too driven to be involved in drugs. Ritalin or Adderall are probably the most common drugs, but a small amount of people are also known to smoke pot in their rooms.

Some people sneak off to the park nearby to smoke at night, but that's about it. I'm sure there are girls into harder drugs here, but it definitely isn't big.

Simmons is basically one huge sorority, but we don't have any actual ones. The frats of other colleges in the areas—MIT, Harvard, BU, Northeastern—are where most girls go for parties their first year.

Simmons is on the list of most sober schools in the country, but this just means we find other places to party—this is Boston. As long as you aren't obviously partying in your room or come back from a party puking in the halls, no one will really say anything.

I don't know anyone who does drugs at Simmons, aside from a few friends who smoke pot here and there. Certainly people drink—binge drink, especially—but if you don't drink, you can definitely find things to do. I didn't drink until sophomore year and never felt excluded. People smoke cigarettes but not a majority, and it's usually just a college phase anyway. I'm sure people do harder stuff, I just don't know anyone. Also, I'm an RA, so they probably hide everything from me more than most people!

The drug scene at Simmons is basically nonexistent. There are a few girls who smoke cigarettes in designated areas outside, but I have never heard of any illegal drug activity on campus. If people do drugs, it is off campus.

There are so many good restaurants off campus that www.campusfood.com will be your best friend as far as delivery food goes. There are some awesome restaurants right in our front yard—Longhorn, Hidyan, Brown Sugar, Indian Samraat, Chipotle, and the list continues. There are really good cheap places and other nice ones, such as Petit Robert. All these places are definitely within walking distance.

I love the restaurants in Boston—there are tons of options. The restaurants in the Simmons area aren't the greatest, but the really epic ones are just a short cab or T ride away. I love Chili Duck, Cafe Jaffa, Sonsie, Island Hopper, Thai Basil, and tons of others.

Campus police are strict when it...
Campus police are strict when it comes to breaking the law, so if you do drugs and they find out, there are consequences. Drinking on campus is allowed if you are 21 because we have wet campus. If you come home drunk, they only get involved if you get really sick and need to go to the hospital. You will get in trouble if caught drinking in your room underage, so be responsible.

There are rarely parties on campus, but MIT is down the street, as is WIT and other schools. Get on Facebook before you get to school and add some of the social chairs of frats at MIT and other schools. It's really nice to not have the nightlife on campus, and you'll come to appreciate it.

Seems like they only post good...
Seems like they only post good reviews on this site. What's funny is that almost the entire freshman nursing class is doing horribly in their science courses. Our test averages are in the 60s in both biology and chemistry, so we're technically failing both classes, and there are no biology tutors left. The Dean's office will only say, 'You can't drop the class.' Can you tell I don't like this school? I feel as if I've wasted an entire semester, possibly a year, and I feel that I'm wasting time by going to class. I love science and shouldn't be feeling this way. Granted, the professors may be really nice, but tutoring, study groups, and even office hours may not give you the help that you need to pass your classes. A certain professor teaches organic chemistry, and 50 percent of her class failed and had to retake it! Fifty percent!? That's HUGE. This school is horrible, and I can't honestly recommend it to anyone. You either love it or you hate it. And if you love it, you're probably not a freshman in the nursing program.

Simmons professors are dedicated to furthering their own careers and keeping their own work relevant, while simultaneously dedicating themselves to assisting students in exploring their field. I have been offered so many opportunities outside of the classroom by my professors (including job positions, publishing opportunities, internships) that I would not have been afforded without their sincere friendship and willingness to help their students at all times. Classes at Simmons are fascinating. |

Despite the single-gender atmosphere, students bring a rich diversity of experience and opinion to all discussions, both in and out of the classroom. While I’ve learned a great deal from my professors, I feel that I have learned more and been perhaps even challenged more by my classmates. I have not had a single class at Simmons where I did not learn an important lesson. |

I would say that about 95 percent of the professors at Simmons are awesome at what they do. Most work or have worked in the field that they teach, and love to teach others about the subject because they love it. You do occasionally get a professor who is good with the subject but not good at teaching it. |
