Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Skidmore's strictness truly depends on your own behavior. If you throw parties that are too loud, have too many students lingering outside of the door, and have a bass beat that can be heard from five houses down, then, yes, you will get caught and Campus Safety will write you up. But if you have a party that is contained to the inside of the house and isn't unnecessarily loud, you will rarely get written up by Campus Safety or an RA. RAs are generally not looking to get students in trouble, but there are times when students are simply not tactful at all in hiding the fact that they are doing something against College policy (this pertains to drinking/smoking/partying). Dorm visitations are not regulated at all; there is no sign-in to dorm buildings. But, again, if your behavior is bothering someone else, an RA or Campus Safety officer may approach you about the situation.

The College is fairly flexible about a lot of things, but they are not flexible about academic integrity. Plagiarism, student-copying, etc., are not tolerated at all at Skidmore. If a student breaks the Skidmore honor code, there are long-lasting repercussions.

Pretty Relaxed

There has been an adjustment in the Alcohol and Other Drugs policy; however, campo doesn't really do too much. You can pretty much have a good time wtihout worrying about getting in trouble.

Taking Care Is Key

They will be strict if they feel it necessary. If you're amiable to Campus Safety when they catch you smoking, sometimes they'll let you go with nothing but an unofficial warning. If something is obviously wrong, like going to the hospital, then of course you'll get punished. Just be careful. Don't be obnoxious about your smoking or drinking and go show it off to anyone. It's all about common sense.

Campo Won't Chase You

Unless you're really stupid or the campus security guy had a bad day, you'll almost never get in trouble. People smoke pot with campo walking right behind them and don't even get a warning.
