The main computer lab on campus is located in the library, but it is generally crowded during exam and paper crunch time. There are several labs located in the academic buildings, but public use depends on class schedules and the building closes at 11 p.m. There are several small computer labs located in the dorms (Howe-Rounds and Tower), but contain only two to four computers. There are public computers located in the student center and the academic buildings, but they are not connected to printers, and are generally used for checking e-mail rather than for academic work. The majority of students bring their own computers, and although it is not necessary, it is helpful. If you have a laptop, there are jacks to connect to the Internet all over campus (in dorms, the library, and even in the dining hall), and wireless Internet is available in the student center. There are some students that find typing notes in class is easier for them. This isn’t always going to fly with professors, but most of the time, it is an option.

Computers become very hard to come by during finals week, and it seems like the students who have laptops have an advantage. There are Internet connections in every dorm room for each student, but if you have a roommate and need somewhere quiet to concentrate, there may be a problem.

Always an Open Computer

There's always a computer that's available in any of the labs on campus. The only problem is that the new log-in system is painfully slow on Windows computers.

The Equipment Is Good

I am a computer science major and very attached to my own machine, so I barely ever interact with school computers except to print, and I rarely have issues there. I would have given a negative review last year, but this summer nearly all computers were upgraded. Windows machines now run Windows 7, and there are hundreds of brand new iMacs around campus.

Campus Comps

you can mainly find computers whenever you need to until it hits midterms and finals, but many computers on campus aren't connected to a printer, or the printers are often broken (i.e. case center)
