Approximately 15 percent of Skidmore students live off campus. So, off-campus housing is not as popular at Skidmore as it is at other colleges. This can be attributed to the two on-campus apartment villages that allow upperclassmen to live in apartments and still be on campus, protected by the Office of Residential Life. However, for students who do choose to live off campus, the price can be cheaper than living in Scribner or Northwoods. There are many options for off-campus housing; it is not very difficult to find a house to live in off campus that is in close proximity to school. It is certainly helpful to have a car if you're living off campus, but it's not required if you live near a bus stop. The off-campus housing ranges from studio apartments to full-sized houses.

Students must register with Res Life if they are living off-campus. Residential Life can help, minimally, with your search for off-campus housing. Additionally, you must be a junior or senior to live off campus.

I Know Little

I know little to none about off campus housing because most people just live on campus all four years. Senior year there are beautiful four and three person houses on campus so I do not know why anyone would need to live off campus.

Party Houses

I'm a freshman so I don't know much about off campus housing. What I hear though, is that if you live in an off campus house that its generally expected to be a party house. Some houses have worse reputations than others, but it seems to be the general stigma with off campus living.
